DPS Concerns

With the nerf to the dmg procs for melee, this is going to cut DPS down a WHOLE lot. Are the mobs in place that have 1 gazillion HP'S going to be adjusted? Or are you banking on the server to roll casters to help out w/DPS?

Problem is with upping the HP on mobs and requiring more DPS, If you have too much DPS it will crash you... Experienced it alot in fear.

i was under the impression that the difference added to casters and lost by melee was by way of balancing so in all actuality if you balance your roster on raids you should lose any dps at all really. at least that is i beleive the spirit of the balancing attempt

Sort of yes.
Long answer - we don't want to force anyone to now delete their Rogues and roll Wizards. But if you want Top DPS, Wizards is now a first class choice instead of a total joke class compared to the DPS of the pure Melees.
Ideally, you would want every class on your raid or in your group, not the typical EQEmu group of War/Cle and 4 rogues/monks. That's where i want to go with THF. It's not going to happen over night. Tears will roll. But in the end love will spread!
We are not done yet - HP's of mobs will be taken into account.

One other thing to note - the balancing for melee/caster balance seems to all be happening at the high end. Not all wizards are able to get chaotic detonation/2.0/clickies, and not all of the melees are poa/2.0/etc geared. Hopefully once the balance is found at the high end the lower tiers will also be looked at and adjusted accordingly.

I'm not looking to make this server any easier... that's why i freak out about tinkering with stuff in general lol. Seems to me all but maybe the top raid mobs are pretty well open to your box army crews. The idea that ANY raid boss is boxable just isn't right in my mind. (it is after all suppose to be a RAID right?) If i wanted to play by myself I wouldn't bother with an MMO style game =P

Honestly, with the latest round of caster balancing I think it would be a good idea to make some of the higher tier raid mobs a little harder. I agree that it shouldn't be possible to box a raid boss until you are at least a couple tiers higher. No one should be boxing CT or Xeg at this point (except seriously decked donator crews). I would go so far as to say that even Fennin should be very hard if not impossible with a single group except all but the top geared people. We did Fennin with less than 2 groups before we even killed Xeg.
Harder is good.
