DPS classes

I'm fairly new to this server and see many adjustments have been made to the classes, much needed btw. I love to play solid DPS...I like to push my limits. I currently play a mage but am starting to wonder if she is really that great dps wise? Which classes Melee/Range/Caster are cranking out the most DPS? I know rogues and rangers are way up there but I'm not sure how they compare to one another or how mages/wizards fit in or if they even come close? Thanks for any input. Oh and please don't tell me to just play what I like...I already do that but I LOVE alts and main change from time to time

Thanks in advance!

Having played with most of the top end geared toons in my time, rogues are your best best for sustained DPS. My preference is in order
Rogue
Ranger (best afk dps)
Warrior
Wizard

.
Monks

.
The rest

I usually play cloth casters or Clerics who don't heal....don't ask, trust me, ya don't wanna know....
My Wizard pours out a bucket load of dps, but it isn't an endless supply, sadly. Mana regen plays a major factor, even using a couple of clickies for mana replenishment.
My Magician has Pet 2.0 for dps, with additional damage tossed out with Ancient:Nova Strike (I think it's called that)
We have a Ranger in our guild who puts out respectable damage...when he's not waiting for a rez.
So, basically, with my line-up of alts, dps-wise it goes: Wizard, can one-shot kill mobs in certain zones with her AA-specs. Mage, Pet 2.0 with big Dmg-shield on him can tank nicely and do substantial damage while Mage tosses out nukes. But Wizard seems to kill faster than Mage, no matter how much chocolate I have had.
I don't play a lot of melee-classes, as I have issues with my characters getting hit, my only melee is my Bard, so I'm afraid I can't give you any information about other class dps, even though my husband's Rogue just nauseates me with the amount of damage she can put out.

My experience from parses i have gone over (im a parse whore), granted while i cant see the Spell dmg dps, i can say from playing a wizard theya re upthere, but with the mechanics of a lot of fights high end i have noticed these classes toping charts consistently.
Rogue
Beserker
Wizard
Ranger (hits top of charts depending on the fight quite often)
Monk
The Rest (i dont add warrior, even tho i do damned good dps on mine, simply b/c its not considered a dps class for me, but as far as long term sustained dps goes i would certainly put it just below the ranger.)

Hello my slave,
Berzerkers were quite pansy when I used to play, we had the top one in our guild and his dmg was just about the same as my warrior even though we were equally geared. Think it was because he wasnt proccing as much as me. Maybe they have been changed recently. I feel sorry for that class, i my opinion they are shafted quite bad on this server.
Still they are better than monks which I would never allow in the guild because of their shitty survivability. Take a warrior over a monk because even though their dmg might not be as high they last longer during a fight and less reliant on heals
I dont have a liking to casters, any of them, though necros were nice.
Thats just my opinion based on what i know at this time
New list would be
Rogue
Ranger
Berzerker
Warrior
.
.
.
.Wizard.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.Monk.

The rest

We have a zerker, currently ONE of the top not the top on the server as hes been taking a break, who parses QUITE high, hes sent me his logs with his procs hes usually pumping out b/w 7-9k on bosses, and has hit higher on bosses with adds, granted some of those parses are a little skewed b/c im convinced he RPs his zerker and has no regard for agro sometimes lol.
magelo Estarot, solidly geared (yes with a donor so kind of changes things a bit parse wise over non donors) and i have noticed too that with his recent gear upgrades he has received quite a large boost in his dps and Survivability.
and i agree 50/50 on the monks, tiers 1-4 they are awesome, but they do lose some of their punch (no pun intended) when they start hitting t5+, they require more heals than most dps classes, even when fully aa'ed and auged out. But given the chance to surive they definately do considerable dps - its just rough on them sometimes, tho they certainly dont lack in .. im blanking on the word i wanted to use, damn school is draining me dry b/w that and work. they bring some nice features to the table which make them a welcome addition in any guild IMO.

Thanks for the input so far guys. Sadens me that Mages don't even make the list by anyones account

. On live I was by no means a top end mage or a huge raider but on the targets I did get in on I was up there on parses even when my pet poofed early on. Other mages made it on the parses and sometimes even topped them. I have noticed that mages are typically pretty slacktastic about getting in there and really pushing their dps. Sic pet, nuke once or twice and relax and watch everyone else work seems to be the norm (not all but some

). No one has seen mages in a good spot on parses? Are the mages you have had with you slacktastic or is the class just not ever going to get there even played hard?

mages are not worth in my opinion, never seen one in action really. their problem is that their pet will get eaten either by a boss aoe or rampage. You already have a hundred things to worry about and worrying about healing a pet isnt worth, especially when you know you could be nuking instead.
