Thoughts? Hammer of the Sleeper

Doing the monk dps vs. warrior tank pondering for this weapon. Open to suggestions and hoping someone can shed a little light on the topic.

Good hp, 2 aug slots, AC is low for a tank, love that it's range usable to make way for future upgrades.

Has anyone had much experience with it? Although many mobs are unslowable, here are the key questions I have:

1) Slows generally produce a lot of hate, no? This would strike me as a good aggro proc for a tank and a bad thing for dps (especially considering the proc does no dmg), if true.

2) The resist check (-100 magic) is a definite plus. Does it actually land on slowable mobs?

War has webtools/items.php?id=11785 & Epic 2.0, the latter I'm not opposed to stashing away in range/back.

Monk has webtools/items.php?id=6527 & Epic 2.0

Thanks, and yes - I know, this is only Tier 3... but hey not everyone is T8 yet 8-)

Your warrior should be able to keep aggro off of your monk while he's using that weapon. i would throw it on the monk because your warriors weapons are better and if it's generating too much aggro for the monk, put it on his ranged

If I recall, double slot 8s is rare around your tier and those weapons sleeper drops are amazing

I actually got one to drop tonight and did end up putting it in the monk's hands. You're right - those sleeper weapons are good stuff for this tier!

Thanks, Melkor

I use Hammer of the Sleeper on my own monk. Even when you've got a great MH weapon, HotS's melee slow proc is fantastic for for helping ease your relative squishiness (despite all the monk-specific bonuses, you're still a leather-wearer) and is appreciated by your allies, especially tanks. Tanks love it when they're not getting whacked on quite as eagerly.

The fact that it's onehanded and monks get tons of attacks in the same space as other classes makes getting that slow proc off easy, and I haven't seen it resisted much by enemies that aren't outright immune (-100 Magic resist mod is wonderful). Double-8 augmentations and very competitive damage output for its tier are the icing on the cake. I'd offhand this bad boy for quite a while.

Stupendous weapon for it's tier, really.
