The Hidden Forest

I'm having a really hard time with this adventure path, namely the "bosses" in the Warrens that Harmtouch and cast 350 point lifetaps.

Let me give a quick background on myself. I started vanilla EQ with a Warrior and leveled through to Omens when I decided enough was enough and quit. I've recently found a fondness for EQ again and discovered your amazing game.

I have limited playing time and weird work hours so I thought the alternative path to adventure was right up my alley. And I have not been disappointed! I've really been amazed at how much fun dungeon crawling is. But my amazement is quickly turning into dismay now because I am stuck in the Warrens.

I'm leveling a paladin and I have cleric and rogue bot. I've just hit 24 and almost everything cons green, except for the Muglop (yellow) and the named fellows (blue).

I've completed half of my enchanted cold steel armor and I haven't been able to get the third rune to get my enchant on my weapon. I've been unlucky on the rest of my armor, or I haven't been able to kill the mobs I need to kill. I've completed half of the quests including the nifty quickness ring from the tailor.

And I'm stuck, I've died more times than I can shake a stick at on all these named mobs, Harmtouchs and 350 point life tap procs and the fact that they have a ton of hit points are making these fights unwinnable and unfun.

I've decided to just skip this area now because I don't think I can finish these quests till I am much higher level however, I can't get past the named werebat without it killing me. The farthest I've made it was into some giant bears cave who proceeded to chomp chomp chomp me as the named werebat beat me from behind.

If you go into the Warrens be careful you're more than likely going to trip on my corpses.

Now, a couple of last points I'd like to make:
1) I'm a BRAND new player. I have none of the awesome gear from the other server side. I've seen some people whiz through the area's I'm struggling in who are levels below me.
2) I'm sure there are a few classes and bot combo's that probably have no problems farming these bosses. See above, I'm a Paladin.
3) I'd love to group with someone to try these encounters unfortunately no one ever seems to be on and I am loath to complain in /ooc for help.

It seems to me that if this was created for solo players in mind that wanted to grind out a dungeon crawl I think all in all it's been a fantastic job however, the bosses are killing the experience for me and I am so frustrated now with death 20something that I'm about to call it quits with my Paladin.

Before I do that I was hoping that there could be some input here.

Update:

I can kill Master Daxgrr;
I can kill Prince Bragnar only if LoH is up, otherwise I die.
It's not even close with Ssuik the Batlord due to 350 point life taps being spammed. Is this working as intended?

The AP line is really hard from what I've heard but I have yet to walk that path.
Aside from the frustration of not having anyone to do it with no one I know that has done it regretted it. Its a nice change of pace or so I'm told.

the first thing is- what class is your is your bot? just curious (if you have one)
second thing - they REALLY should not be casting the 350 point lifetaps at their level. (he can proc a 45 hp lifetap though)
With possibly except a single mob - Krode, who otherwise has very gimp hp. (but comes with adds)
My only guess is that during one of the spell file updates one of the npc spells got changed around, and it was on those npcs cast list. (maybe Lillu could take a look at their spell lists to see if they got access to some high end spells for some reason)
And yes - ALT-P suppose to be doable solo (with a single bot) at a slow pace, but without much death =)
When I play tested it, i went through it with 5 different chars - all started off NAKED and used gear found in Alt-P =)
Also, it is possible to go around Bat Master if you stick to the wall around him you will be just outside the agro range. Just be aware of the bats around the wall and large pack of kobolds in the next room. Take the OTHER tunnel from there to get to Stonebrunt =)

Your gear set for warrens almost all done. Good progress so far

Thanks Chaos, I'm finally finished with my set and I'm working on my bots (btw is a rogue and cleric). At level 26 now I've gotten my Gleeming Claymore, Gleeming Longsword and shield.

I'm managed to get my rogue some magic weapons as well so I am thumping Wuglump pretty good. =)

I'm about to try the King, since I can beat down the Prince fairly well, however the mobs are definitely a bit off key with their lifetaps.

The gloom bats also do a 350 life tap however they have such small lifebars I can chew right through them, but the Bat Master is another story, he is still destroying me with constant 350 point life taps.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could look into that. =)

Please, someone, look into 350 lifetaps on these mobs.

I think I'm done dying over and over.

The issue was that they use the default SK spell list which has a 10% chance to proc the 350pt lifetap. I changed it to use a 100pt lifetap instead.

The grim batlings use the 350 point lifetap as well... Kinda hurts when a blue con trash mob hits you for 1/5 your life every 10 seconds or so

That's good news the problems been identified.

I haven't been able to log in yet to check but is this fixed now or will it be fixed in an upcoming update?
