Need help ... medicaid app

Ok, this one is for the Americans, sorry to everyone else, heh.

So I'm going to be heading back to the US and plan to have a medical procedure done so I am applying for medicaid. However, their app is very ambiguous so I am wondering if anyone has an insight to the lingo used.

Is your household’s gross income less than $150?

Is it even possible to ask for a gross income when not declaring the time reference? I can guarantee you that my gross income per minute is less than $150 and my gross income per month is more than $150 ...

Any ideas? I just don't see how one could ask this sort of question. Incidentally, the medicaid ceiling of assistance in Florida is $2022/month, but not matter how much I try, that $150 number just doesn't fit the $2022 number ...

INCOME TEST

While each state has different guidelines for Medicaid eligibility, Florida is known as an "Income Cap" state. The applicant's must calculate gross monthly income, not the net amount the applicant receives after taxes and/or Medicare Part B premiums are deducted. Only the applicant's income is counted; a well-spouse's income is not.

While each state implements Medicaid guidelines differently, Florida is known as an "Income Cap" state. This means that if an applicant's gross income exceeds $1,869 per month, they would not pass the income test, nor qualify for Medicaid. However, since 1993, there is now a way to qualify even if the gross income exceeds the cap.

ASSET TEST

The Asset Test, is the second Medicaid income requirement that must be met. In order to qualify, a person cannot possess too many assets -- only $2,000 of "countable assets" is allowed. However, if the applicant's monthly income is less than $743, they can keep $5,000 of assets. As of 2007, the community spouse may only have $101,640 of countable assets.

Ya know, I typically pride myself on my ability to search and find things on the internet and I swear I spent a good solid hour doing all I could to find that. I was even on THAT SITE numerous times ...

All this means is I bow to your internet searching skills :)

Thanks!

USA medicate system is one of the most puzzling and ultra unintuitive.... As any other government design social system inquiries... My sympathies for having to deal with it.

As a foreigner in Ukraine, all you need to do is live here and they take care of you if you go to one of the government hospitals. Officially you have to register to get it, but unofficially they always take you for free even if unregistered.

Private clinics are better quality, but also carry the price tag. Still not much when compared to the American system.

Canada's system was great ... I grew up there and went through 5 major surgeries before age 10 without bankrupting my family lol.

Aye. We in Australia have medicare, and unless your earning millions, you can get government funded treatment in a hospital. The trouble is the hospitals are underfunded, and have mile long waiting lists ....

considering that in last 15 years a can of Coca-Cola went from c.25 to $1.50... in 40 years those 60% will probably let you buy a pizza once in a while :|
