So had one comp kick the bucket. Not surprised considering I've been trying to keep it alive for over 3 years with constant use.
Upgraded to a new setup and finished my install and thought I would ask if anyone has advice for optimizing windows 7 and for eq in general.
Did anyone have any specific issues they want to advise of and fixs?
Brief search of sony's forums brought up the DX9 issue which I believe I already solved but the comp wanted to reboot to install 100 updates so we'll see.

I had to runt he DX9 install from the SOD client directory, but apart from that it ran fine on windows 7 ultimate x32 and x64.

I havent thought it necessary to switch off any un-needed services as it runs fine as it is on all of my machines.

Grey, I had nothing but problems with Win7 and EQ. So much lag, frame rate dropping to 11/50. I think it had more to do with my older hardware than Win7 tbh. I finally went back to WinXP and all the issues are gone.

/insert another apology to Lillu and crew for blaming them.
/insert another b*tchfest at Bill Gates. just because I can.
/insert a sigh. why won't EQ run on Win 3.11?

Funny, moving to win7 from xp64 on the same hardware took my framerates in a 6 box from ~20 (down as low as 8-10 in places like PoA) to maxed at 40 all the time.

Never had any problems on the UF client other than the obvious install of DX9.

At least I'll never have ram issues. 24gig atm and 24more that was on backorder.
