[FIXED] Link Dead issue

Hello,

This happened to me 3 times now. It usually happens when I pull a fairly large amount of mobs (about 10). So far this happened on Plane of Fear, Plane of Tactics, Plane of Fire. Basically I pull about 10 mobs with my warrior. Bring to camp, use my Donor legs and... its the warrior gets LD. I run 7 sessions on one PC and 5 sessions on 2nd pc. Only the warrior gets LD.

The Lag indicator is at 100% but the ping doesn't change. I know its LD since whenever I try to do an instant ability or click item it returns me with "you cannot use that command right now". The LD takes about 5minuites before the You are disconnected black screen appears (If at all). It is strange since it only affects the puller /tank.

The only difference I have in this session appart from the others is that the setting is all maxed out on this one. The rest they have on the lowest setting except the main healer and the bard (usually the puller).

Would like to know whats causing this since its quite annoying.

Update:

It is happening more frequent and now it involves on more accounts at once. This only happens in combat. Randomly many of my characters seems to be going to Link Dead but it doesn't. I see the mob's health going down, I can swap targets. However the screen won't update. For instance I just did the Xegony fight, and those affected won't see the adds past the first wave, and Xegony is standing there with 0% health. I will post some screenshot to try to explain what it looks like.

Below I have attached two screenshot of my current game play. The affected were more than those. Today it happened on Plane of Tactics twice, Plane of Air 1 time (Xegony Fight).

If you can see that the necro is still on 100% connection, with Xegony standing and 1st wave of adds still alive. However in reality the fight is over. Its like the game is waiting to be updated but not gone Link dead. The only fix IF you haven't clicked or casted anything is by camping or force quitting with /exit. (or in some very rare case, it fast forwards to the state it really is).

This is how the current state should look like on all clients.


On plane of tactics out of 15 characters 9 got affected. 2 on main pc and 7 on 2nd pc. On Xegony 4 got affected. 1 on main pc (the tank) and 3 on 2nd pc (bst, Necro, Ench). Its very random and its quite frustrating when it happens. I am not sure what is causing this, and this only started to happen a few days ago. I haven't changed anything on my PC nor configuration of the game.

P.S. My god image is gigantic... sorry about that. Also Should have told what client I am using and such. Using UF client, on PC using MQ2 from MQemulator (standard, not gold) and running with WinEQ2. On 2nd PC I am just using same MQ2 as PC1, but without WinEQ2.

This only happens on combat and not right at the start. Usually when you have pulled and few seconds has passed. I notice it when I see pets going through the mob toward where ever they are heading and the mob animation stops playing. For normal batch of mobs its not much of an issue, since I can still target them and send commands "IF" I have not used click items or casted a spell, since when I do have used a clicky then it spams with "you cannot do that command right now..." In that case /camp won't work so I have to /exit.

Sounds like you're getting disconnected by chat spam.

Evidence supporting:
1) High mob count pulls.
2) Only during combat.
3) Pets are involved (and they generate a healthy amount of spam).
4) Only certain characters get disconnected (the ones with the most spam, I'm willing to bet).

Solution? If I'm right...
Filter everything you can in the options (alt + O) off.
Make a new chat window and filter anything you don't need to see to it. Then click the 'o' button to minimize it. Never open it again or you'll lag out and go LD - you've been warned! :lol:

Try those things and see if you still have characters getting disconnected in combat.

Wtb your globalload.txt also, I've been searching for those stick figures forever...

But what Noren said is probably what is happening. Each chat line will send a packet to the client and if to much is sent to keep up with then it will lead to a disconnect. It's just the nature of Emu. Filter as much as you can and it should help.

Hello,

Thanks for the tips. That makes a lot of sence since the Main tank doesn't have much chat filters on.
And it also makes sence about the BST and Necro got DCed since they are pet classes (wierd mage didn't but anyways).
Talking about options, another thing I am experiencing is the constant resets on the eqclient.ini. What I mean is that
the 2nd pc has the lowest settings, and usually have most of my chats filtered, in options I disable all luclin models
elementals and such. Then from time to time, these settings gets enabled again, along with the filters setting back on.
Its like the game recreated the eqclient.ini again.

To Vaion:

As Donrexu stated, I have followed that guide to enable the stick figures. Also my globalload.txt on 2nd pc AND 5 of 7 characters
looks like this:

3,0,TFFFC,thfobj.eqg,Loading Characters
3,1,TFFF,Global_chr,Loading Characters
1,1,TFFF,Global_obj,Loading Character Equipment Files
1,1,TFTF,GEquip,Loading Character Equipment Files

When I come back from work will try to work out the filters. And I guess I should close my session with /camp rather than
/exit (its faster but maybe the reason why the option keeps resetting)

that is most likely the reason, always use /camp. never use /ex or /q

i use /camp desktop, or when boxxing /bcaa //camp desktop. its just as fast as /ex minus the 30 sec camp wait.

After all these years I never even knew about /camp desktop. Will do it from next time on. Thanks!
