I've seen this discussion a few times the last few months. Are ideas being considered to help curb the problems?
2 things that would get me out of AFK'ing in the Forest:
1) Allow us to change the starting charm's portal to the Guild Hall (maybe you can have a charm exchange NPC that you can trade in your charm for a Forest click/THV click/Guild Hall click? Even if it eats your aug I would definitely use it for a Guild Hall click). I don't know if this is possible due to it being instanced. In addition to this, allowing your toons to be bound there would be fantastic as well but I could see an issue arising from players who are bound in the guild hall and de-guild. That could get messy when they gate/die.
2) A simpler fix which is not as preferred as the first one: place a guild hall NPC right where the current Forest click-in drops you, which requires no movement to /target and say "enter" to. As a 6boxer that uses ISBoxer but not MQ2, I actually find the current charm zone-in spot in the Forest to be very inconvenient for me. It's a long run and without /stick I get issues with auto follow and often have to re-group my 6 toons every time I zone because their order get moved around. ISBoxer's follow me command is not nearly as good as MQ2's. If the guild hall NPC was within easy reach, my stay in the Forest would often be seconds. Even if I afk'd in the Forest, it would only be at the port-in spot. I would have no reason to use the Forest for anything else, really.
You can never get rid of people who AFK in a high traffic area to show off, but I think a lot of us do so just because it's an area of convenience. I hate being in the Forest due to the lag, but I often don't have the THV porter equipped, which means clicking the charm is by far the easiest way for me to move my 6-box. Eliminating people like me from the Forest would probably go a long way in helping solve the issues.
