I'm in my 2nd casual week with EQemu, and just started on THF a couple days ago. Loving it so far, and very impressed on the server's gameflow with regards to its customization and progression aspects. I started with Irreverent server, just to get re-aquainted with the game, and the prospect of being able to solo/duo all the classic expansions up to PoP, but later found out that it still had some of the usual minor annoyances with Live! (spell hunting, etc) and that at max level, after you've finished the whole content... what to do next?.
So far, what drew me to try out this server (after some research) are:
1.) getting decent gear at low levels (including epic 1.0), and not having to change every 5-10 levels
2.) challenging group content, LDoN, and ultimately... raiding
3.) good/loyal community and great feedback on server management/GM staff
I got my 5-box (+1 bot) crew leveled up to 30 right now, and can't wait to get home and start playing after RL chores/things are done. Being a family man, I only get to play maybe 1-2 hours per day (that's why I have to box to get things done).
A short history: I played Live EQ since '02. Just played a single toon (warrior) and raided endgame content from Luclin till DoN. I was one of Assent's regular tanks (Maelin Starpyre Server) and retired after a few months after the second serverwide kill of OMM (Asylum of Anguish) back in 05 (?). Played WoW for over a year, raided a bit too, and retired after I got tired with the 1st expansion. Also played LoTR online and other MMOs, but never lasted long.
I used to play EQ at least 3-4 hours a day (before I settled down) and whole weekends... but that was back then. Now, I can only play casually. Perhaps I'd be interested to join a guild later on after I hit 70 and some AAs... taking it slow this time around, and just enjoy myself =) On live, competition was so high... the pressure is there to get the best gear, max AAs, first server kills (even first serverwide kills, our guild officers knew how to push LOL)... now, I actually find this pace more relaxing and enjoyable.
I may have a few questions later on, but for now... a simple hello and peace to everyone! I will be staying here for a good while
