Boxing DPS - Wizards?

Good afternoon all,

I'm looking into my boxing setup and how do do it properly on THF.

Currently I am able to box 4 chars on my comp and have 2 questions.

For tank I have a quite nicely geared donator Pally and for healer I have both the option of taking a cleric or a Shammy (depending on the amount of healing needed and my patience on getting mobs down).

1) DPS: Obvious choices are Ranger, Monk and rogue, but I can see that quite a few in here are mentioning wizard DPS as an option. How do you get around this?

I can understand Rangers with a donator bow/LDON bow and auto-ranged macro, rogues and monks as well with BS/FK macro's. But how do you keep up a steady wiz DPS in a box? Advice is very welcome.

2) Furthermore, are there any legit way around having the same keybind affecting all of your windows in WinEQ or a similar program? I use Win EQ, but might not have found the trick yet. I love the wizard group setups and would love to do an AE group setup, rather than the usual tank and spank setup I see everyone doing here.

Appreciate your advice guys.

I Box rangers and wizards. The rangers are so easy and very good dps with a donor bow. Rangers are just solid assist/autofire, forget.

The wizards are tons of work to keep up DPS with, need a fair few AA's, and need solid gear to start being good as a box DPS.

I use hotkeynet, which is a software-keystroke-broadcast. It has to change focus to press the button which I dont like, but Ive got all my toons running on another machine so dosent impact my main tank. I press '2', and it cycles the windows and presses 2 - which happens to assist my main tank and nuke/shoot.

Works great until my tank dies, then when I press 2, cant assist my tank, so tends to nuke nothing, end result : I wipe

I have a wizard in my boxing setup, and she is a ton of dps. You do need to get some focus effects going, AA for crit/dmg, and the 2.0 is a nice touch, too.

I use a macro in game. I have it set up to assist my tank, then cast 3 spells before it tells me in group that the macro is complete, then I flip back to her and rehit it. Approx every other macro hit I can hit her 2.0.

The only complaint I have about my set up is that the macro wont restart if it midway through running. On trash I often have to manually target the next mob before the macro is completed, but once that is done she keeps nuking.

I also run a gar box and she is the easist of all my toons to run. As long as you watch distance from the mob (She needs a min dist or range wont fire) you just hit a macro to assist and shoot. Great dps too.

I have tried alot of different melee classes and found it very cumbersome to move them behind each mob, particularly on trash. They are also quite a pain on knockback mobs =p

If I understand the second question, and I may not, I think what you are looking for is to actually set up different EQ installs so that you can change hotkeys within each individually. You can then direct WinEQ profiles to each specific EQ install. If that isnt what you were looking for.. disregard =)

Good Luck!

You can use wineq to setup separate hotkeys for each character. Setup a profile for each toon and one of the profile options is "EQclient.ini". Copy and rename the eqclient.ini file in your eq folder and tell wineq to use those in the profile options.

Isnt this against the server rules? Pressing the button once and it pressing it on all the toons...

Every so oftern a new discussion comes up on what is legit or not here. Please I recommend to re-read the Server Rules (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2001) and refrain from further discussing how to automate tasks.
