Copying UI Files

Post#1 » Tue Nov 01, 2011 4:13 pm

Ever wanted to copy the UI from one character to another? Is copying these files by hand a pain? This small program will help; you can run it from anywhere, once you identify your Everquest folder it will list your toons and allow you to select one. Then it will ask for the name to copy to, and voila the UI layout and associated info is copied over. If you dont have Microsoft .net Framework 4 you'll need to install it prior to using the tool:

.Net Framework 4.0

THFCopyUI Executable only:

THFCopyUI Source:

It works well for me, I thought others might benefit from it.

Hello,

This is not an official THF tool so anyone would download it, do it for your own responsibility.

I'm not saying it's not helpful or harmful, just a heads up!

Thanks,

I didn't notice for a while, but the SOD client has an option to copy UI Layouts. This sounds useful if you use the old titanium client :)

Yep I'm using Titanium. I know the SoD client has the copy built in under Options, but this works for me. I tried to find a copy of SoD but had no luck.

Dunno why you would really need this - I got a UI set the way I like, went into the UI folder, made a copy of that UI configuration, and renamed it template. Based it off of a hybrid, so works great for any character. Make a new toon, just copy and rename it to characters name, then log in. UI comes up ready to use. Only takes 2 minutes at most, one time per character.

I'm guessing that's basically what that program is doing.

Because I don't want to go through the hassle of copying and renaming, this little app makes it very easy. Some people don't know and don't want to know which files need to be copied. It's just easier.

For me, I started here recently and I tend to make 4-5 toons I want to play all at once. I log into the first one I want to play and set up the UI, then I want that same UI for all my other toons. With this app I can do that in seconds. To each his own...

Its a cool app, like he/she said, to each their own.
Personally I have a preset UI for every class that works on every server Id play on.
Simple copy/paste/rename --> Go!
