UI files

I'm not sure if playing on an EMU makes a difference, but I went to move my character UI files from one computer to another, and they don't seem to be on my computers. On live there were always UI files in the menu somewhere, but again, I can't find any of them now.

Should I be looking elsewhere for these? I'm using SoF client, if that helps.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know where they are in the SoF client but you can always find the files directly in your everquest folder. There are a few files in there that deal with UI settings:

eqclient.ini
-text colors, custom keybinds(e.g. I have the reply to tell hotkey set to "o" instead of "r"), etc.

CHARACTERNAME_HiddenForest.ini
-What is on the character's hotbars, socials, blocked spells, spell sets

UI_CHARACTERNAME_HiddenForest.ini
-What custom or default ui you have loaded, where the pieces of that ui are located on your screen, whether they're locked, whats their fade, etc.

Aye, thank you, and that's what I've been looking for. I've run a search on the entire EQ file for my character's names, and nothing comes back. Seems odd. I'll keep searching.

Have you logged into the game with those characters yet? Everquest won't create the files until you play the character at least once. You can make them yourself too. Copy+paste and rename the file.

Do you run EQ as administrator?

If not, newer versions of Windows will not allow your user full access to Everquest program files until you take proper ownership, run eqgame.exe as adminstrator, or reduce/disable UAC. Instead, Windows copies (parts of?) the Everquest program folder to a location in your user's Appdata directory, from which the files will be used for your user.

If this is your issue you can find your files this way:

-Open Windows Explore, enable the Menu bar if needed, open the Tools menu, choose Folder Options, click the View tab, and enable the setting something like Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
-Navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\<path to Everquest folder>\

See if you can locate the files there, and then copy them to the other computer's Everquest folder if you plan to run that client as administrator, or copy them to the other computer's VirtualStore location similar to above if you have already been playing without ownership on that computer.
