IS Boxer

Hail All!

After years of just doing it the easy way, I decided to "improve" my boxing by using another program, and I settled on ISBoxer.

Needless to say, I am now pretty much discouraged about the whole EQ boxing thing, when before today I was very much enamoured with it all.

Does anyone know of a guide written in plain steps that will assist me returning to a state of blissful enjoyment? I'm not dumb, but the quick start guide doesn't really make the game fun, and I couldn't find anything that told me how to find my toon's curren set up.

The idea of resetting all those hotkeys is annoying, but I know if I had a little bit more intelligence I might already know this.... grr.

I wouldn't care, but since ISBoxer is a paid service, I want it to at least work.

As I said, a well-written guide from a casual user, not a programmer, would be very helpful.

There aren't any resources here; however there are many guides on getting EQ setup with ISB on the ISB forum and wiki. (I'd personally recommend the forum)

It's relatively straight forward, but does take some time to figure out and setup. For the people who do use it, I'm sure one of the greatest things they would tell you is to just be patient and take things slow.

I just found out that for the Clicky Items the 1st Action Bar is linked to the Keypress 1 to 0 keys. I wish there was a way to setup a Variable Key in ISBOXER to give me more flexibility with this new option.

Question 1. Is there a way to setup a variable key in Isboxer where I input SHIFT F12 and it gives me 0?

Question 2. Is there a format for a eq version of a "/keypress" command?

Question 3. Is there a way to integrate lets Say Page 2 of Action Bar 1 into the /keypress command?

I'm still trying to learn this... I think Fitzor just had a chat spam issue, but that should indicate he's working on something, and maybe can answer.

It's unclear what you're trying to achieve. It's probably best if you say what key you want to press, and what you want to happen as a result.

Example: If you want to press shift-f12 and have it press the 0 button for your cleric when you're playing your warrior, you need to -

In upper window
- Right click 'Key Maps' in upper window
- Select 'New Key Map'
- Name the keymap something (e.g. "action bar keys")

This has created a key map group. You can have just one, or numerous key maps within this group. You need to assign this key map group to your warrior.

- Under characters, click on your warrior
- Drag the key map group from the upper panel down to Key Maps in the lower panel.


Then to make the key map do something..

- Click on your new key map again

In lower window
- Right click 'Mapped Keys'
- Select 'New Mapped Key'
- Name the mapped key something (e.g. whatever is in action bar slot 0)
- In the panel on the right you'll see 'Hotkey', set this to shift-f12
- On the left panel click on '1' (under steps)
- In the panel on the right, right click on 'Actions'
- Select Keystroke Actions -> New Keystroke Action
- On the far right, set the target to be whichever character you want to be pressing '0'
- On the far right, set the Key Combination to be 0

This has created the mapped key.


Before you do anything you should check with the Dev's as to what they allow.

Before I got IsBoxer I checked the rules, and it says IsBoxer is legal. It seems like keystrokes is all that IsBoxer can handle with EQ. I have not been able to make anything else work. All commands that I use are EQ own macros like /assist Name or /tar name.

I was however able to improve my understanding of mapkeys. The variable keystroke option in IsBoxer is not compatible with EQ it seems, or I don't understand how to make it work. However I was able to figure out how to make some quzi veriable mapkeys.

For example:

Action Bar 1 hotbuttons are designated 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.

By specifying Char 1 in the Keystroke and Pressing CTRL F1 i can have the Keystroke generate 1, and here we go Donator is pressed. This is a godsend, because all the clicking is giving me a tennis elbow. One can also add steps and round robin, so that a bandolier may be used to switch bandoleer items from "Tank" to "Click" bandolier for example. I may use more of this in future. I only did that on the sham and cleric. Because I decided to have more items in open slots vs bag space. I have been deleting old items and stuff. Love that bank space.

Overall I have finished Action Bar 1. Starting on Action Bar 2 tonight. My only concern is that I will forget which key is which. I can't wait to get a programmable keyboard so I have more keys to choose from. The level of customization is limited with mine.

PS. One can designate each subsequent action bar as SHIFT CTR ALT Letter, then use varies keys to activate that combo.

so, i don't fully grasp what you're going for, but i know the devs don't want you using macros to have your boxed toons execute actions while you're not actively controlling them.

that is, unless it changed quite recently.

# Exploiting and 3rd party programs are NOT allowed (winEQ/IsBoxer for boxing is an exemption - not for macroing). They are not allowed at all. We want people to experience this Server as it was meant to be. If you want to check if a specific spawn is up - go there. If you can't - make a tracker. If that's not an option for you - then you will not know if the mob is up. Do not use 3rd party programs for extra map features. Warping/Ghosting will get you banned right away - You have been warned! Automated macros from 3rd Party Programs are not allowed.

The only feature that works with IsBoxer is keystrokes. Press a key and one gets a number of a letter that corresponds to the one that you set in Options. All the macros that I refer to are the EQ own slash commands like /assist name or /tar name etc. I just recently found out that the 1st Action bar out of four allows one to put in ones items and they are set to 1,2,3 to 0. Pressing "9" activates the Item in Slot 9, of Action Bar 1. I after playing EQ since it came out I am glad that this was there all along, because I am starting to have very real problem with my elbow, the pain on a scale from 0 to 10 is about a 9. My sense says "Don't get old!"

Other keystroke options like variable keystrokes, synchronization functions, etc (not sure what the actual names are but I know they don't work). in IsBoxer does not work with EQ, I imagine that is why THF team allows IsBoxer, because there is nothing automatic about the functions that do work. I also deactivated the repeater option, because it makes the characters move funny. So every time one presses a key it activates a Button on the EQ Action Bar such as EQ slash commands. Like "/do 3" (Kick) or SHIFT A being auto attack "/attack on".

The "/follow" command will always suck, but at least I am having a chance to clean my bank. Almost makes me want to get the Shamy Donator: Lithuran, The Spirit Weeper and the Cleric Donator: Hammer of the High Priest. :D

The challenge is to work with a regular keyboard, wish I had more keys like M1 to M12 and others. :D
