Skins problem

Hi there,
It's been a while now that I am having problems with some specific "skins" on eq.
My berserker necro pet appears to be a human (not anymore a zombie).
Potactics npc in the vale was a gargoyle the first day then it turned into a human.
Some Donor v2 are always black (pal, zerk, shaman, wiz, cleric...) and I think they shouldn't hehe.
That's not a big deal but I lose some of the amazing work done on skins and it makes me mad lol.
Any ideas ? I got last dbstr, last spellfile, thf installer. I play on titanium with thf login.

I know some people had more or less the same problem but redownloading those files didn't help, that's why I am posting here.

I had this issue when i 1st came over from p99. I haven't tried i fresh install of Titanium but when I upgraded to UF client (and did the file replacements as described here http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.ph ... gFilesList ) all those problems went away.

Regards,
Sticky

Well I don't feel like paying again to get UF client... Best would be to find out which files I need to change or so ... :( Looking at the missing files shown on the link, I see none related to pet skins or something like that ... *shrugs*
Thanks though !

Have you tried a fresh re-install of titanium yet?

all the files that end in .s3d are going to contain "skins" as far as i know. the ones that say something_chr.s3d i would assume are mob textures for that zone. there are also global skins that are used in all zones, such as global_char. The ones that say something_obj.s3d I'm guessing are for objects in that zone, again there are global ones of these too. the ones that are just zonename.s3d are the actual zone

also as EQ client got older they started using .EQG to handle these textures instead of s3d.

my guess would be to look for the zonename_char.s3d files for the zones that have odd looking mobs (humans instead of dragons or w/e) and try replacing those.

As for the solid black appearance for epics and T8 weapons, really not sure what to replace there. gequip#.s3d maybe?

The staff or someone with more eq "hacking" knowledge can probably shed some more light on this. I know you're not the only one with this problem. I met others that had the same issue when I would ask about it in game.

You can download a program that lets you open and view the .bmp files that are embedded in each .s3d file. but a single .s3d file can contain hundreds of textures, it would take a long time to browse through them all but its worth taking a look at some of them to see what kind of textures they contain, ya know to see if you are on the right track. here is a link to the program, http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18203

hope that ramble helps hehe, getting tired, been working all night, its my bedtime =)

Yeah, try to turn off (uncheck) the Allow hw Vertex Shaders option.
Options window -> Display tab-> Advanced Options

Check your dbg.txt file in your EQ folder and see if you have entry for any missing files in the logs. Something like this: Failed to open C:\EverQuest\bkn_chr.s3d. Point is to look for missing files in the logs. They could easily be the reason of the skin problem.

Ok I think I understood this time ^^ Did what you said and here are the results (same error occured several times so I just copied the different names):

Failed to open C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Everquest THF\bkn_chr.s3d.Initializing character select UI.

Failed to open C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Everquest THF\SHR.s3d.

Failed to open C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Everquest THF\WIL.s3d.

failed to create texture pt_add_smoke.dds for particle system.

Failed to open C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Everquest THF\WIL.s3d.MSG_EQ_NETPLAYERBUFF finished.

failed to create texture flamed.dds for particle system.

Thanks :)

bringing back to life an old of mine. Just upgraded this computer to windows 7 x64 (and bought more ram) so I reinstalled Titanium, changed the eqhost and downloaded the thf installer + spellfiles and now even Vlar and Vlad looks like human....(which wasn't the case before since only my zerker pet and some npc like the potactics npc in the vale were concerned).

Any ideas ?
