I fully agree with you there. I think content should be able to be beaten without any donor items, I think they should simply be a unique and useful alternative to raid gear. My shadowknight buffs to 16.5k AC and he's non-donor, and he is one of the top (if not the best) completely donor-free tanks on the server. My warrior on the other hand is the highest AC/HP and most heavily donor'd tank on the server. he buffs to 30k AC 122k HP. That's almost twice as much AC, and over twice as much HP. Is that ridiculous? Absolutely it is. Do I think donors need to be nerfed? Yes I do, even though that probably won't happen.

Now, with all of that said:

Tier 8, from volkara to the chaos, has been 12 boxed by many people (most of the events are 3-6 boxable). Noren, one of the first few people to 12 box the chaos, had < 5 total donor items between all 12 of his toons. As it is right now, it's fine in that regard. Is there a bottle neck? Yes, a big one. But part of that is because it's easy. You don't need any donor gear to 12 box any event in t8. It's been proven. Making it even easier certainly isn't going to make the bottleneck any better :P

I know it's frustrating trying to beat content in a contested zone when you only have a limited amount of time before other people swoop in to take it out, but let's be honest, difficulty isn't the problem here. Also, most people are nice enough to run others through the content, which is one of the many benefits of the open raid zone. I've personally ran countless people through every event in HoH (including various people from drachenkinder and NV) and I know every single one of my guildies has done the same thing :)

Would I like to see the content harder? A little, yes. It's a little weird that someone can get flagged for HoH and then 12 box all the raid mobs with no donors in less than two months of getting flagged. Am I pushing for it to be made harder? Not really. I'm just tired of seeing this zone get altered. I think it's fine. I'd really like the GM's to be dedicating their time to releasing new content instead :P

A lot of what you say here, is true. But I'd add the caveat that none of this happens without macros. Nobody 12 boxes any of that, without third party. Its allowed, don't get me wrong, but its part of it, and that needs to be included in the discussion. It just tends to get my dander up when people mention making it harder - I tend to perceive that through a lense of skepticism, when past events are taken into account, and I have very little tolerance for it. I do not like elitism, and I perhaps perceive it wrongly at times. I tend to come off a bit harsher than perhaps I intend, and for that I apologize to beat.

But, you're right - the difficulty at this point, isn't the problem - its the availability that's the issue, and that sadly isn't going to be changed. What that boils down to for everyone concerned in HOH though, is that for some, that content is a daily routine, and for some, its an occasional target of opportunity.

In my view, that's the very definition of flawed, where an emu server is concerned - and I'm pretty sure that's not a minority viewpoint. /shrug

Its not going to change, though, so theres nothing more to really say.

Did... did we just agree?

I'm totally with you that it's because of mq2, since one person can now play 12-24 toons more efficiently than 12-24 actual people since it takes communication out of the picture. I was a pretty big opponent of MQ2 becoming legal when they first made that announcement because I've always been a fan of raiding as a guild, steamrolling content with your friends and the mutual feeling of accomplishment you get when you kill something (kind of like winning a football game but, you know, behind a computer screen). Now it's just a zone full of people boxing whatever they find up as individuals. I've seen people in a certain guild (it wasn't my guild or your guild, and I'll refrain from naming who) actually get in a verbal fight over who zoned into an instance first, which frankly I find disgusting, since that defeats the purpose of having a guild at all. But people seem to like mq2 a lot (I'll admit, I've become dependent on some parts of it, I think I'd quit if I lost /stick) so unfortunately it seems like THF from here on out is going to be a box fest.

/wave

My road to the Chaos was paved with guildies, advice, some writing of my own macros with EQBC Server and MQ2 (I just learned to code by doing this a few months ago) and a handful of donor items.

I wholeheartedly believe HoH cannot be 12-boxed without some key donator items - which is a good thing.

To be clear, I died a lot.
To be abundantly clear, I played a lot.
To be crystal clear, I had a lot of help getting there.

I don't think Halls of Honor is easy, personally. Is it my favorite zone? Nope, but it's really pretty good. A lot of tweaking went into the events, and I appreciate the effort made to balance the difficulty for all guilds.

If the essence of this thread is that competition in the open zone between the elite and the up-and-coming is stifling server fun, then I think there's an easy compromise to this whole issue:

Move the 10% drops from HoH boss loot tables to the Nadox boss loot tables.

I wholeheartedly believe HoH should not be 12 boxed by anyone, no matter how heavily donor'd they are. If tier 9 comes out and I can 12 box it, I'll be very disappointed :(
