Having played EQ on live, I never did any trades. Since I started playing on here, I thought I'd follow the same course of action. Being a rogue and discovering that the quests for making poison and some poison making components are not in the game I thought it'd be a good idea to dump all my unspent points into making poison to get it leveled as fast as possible.

Then I discovered the solo aura quest. And now I'm screwed because I can't level the tradeskills needed for the quest.

Help? Is there ANYTHING I can do?

Needless to say all the toons I create from now on get a point in everything.

You don't need to put any points in the tradeskills in order for them to work. You can just start crafting and leveling them up via that. There's a guide around here somewhere by MK that takes you to max on everything (or just about everything). An alternartive route is just to max the tradeskill AAs for the respective skill needed (gives you a 50% chance to succeed) and just pray the combine works. For the solo aura, the tradeskill AAs are good enough since if you fail it won't take all that long to refarm the mats.

I thought you couldn't level up any tradeskills (or any skills for that matter) without having at least 1 point in them. Is that not the case on this server?

the 1 point rule only applied to combat skills and sense heading (back in a day).
You never needed to put skill points into crafts to start - god bless no fail spiderling silk combines
