Cannot install Underfoot

Recently downloaded a few Underfoot clients. Cannot install any of them. One doesn't have a 'everquest.exe' file the other starts a weird 'Patching EverQuest' window (not the normal live patch) which eventually comes up with the following error box:

Connection Failure

Could not establish a connection. Please check your network connection or visit http://www.sony.station.com/kb

My connection is fine and all of the files (including the UF missing files are present).

I would really like to play on this server. I have played on EZ and p99 before so I understand how to connect to an emu server once installed but nothing I have tried to do to install this is working.

I have Windows 8 and no other EQ installed. I have tried running as administrator and in compatibility mode. Neither made a difference. With Steam no longer carrying anything but the live F2P client and Titanium being increasingly hard to find and expensive, I am not sure what else to do. I do have a the discs for the Anniversary Edition if that can somehow be used.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I am very frustrated with this process.

Hmmm. I just tried to reconnect yesterday and was encountering some lag issues (on all servers) so I did some tampering. First off, compatibility mode while running win8 (8.1 for me) seems to cause errors on start up. Just uncheck it. Secondly, I know you said you're used to connecting to the emu, but if your client is trying to connect to the live servers then something is wrong, likely either with the eqhost or the patchme that's supposed to be at the end of the target in the shortcut you created. If those two things are correct...

I can't even get to the step where I need to put 'patchme' in the eqgame.exe shortcut, though I have done so anyway. I have also put the correct info in to the eqhost.txt file. However, I don't think any of that comes in to play until you can install the game, which I cannot. The everquest.exe installer is not installing the game.

everquest.exe is the file that runs the game to the live servers (or is supposed to, but old versions of that files like the UF version will run into a brick wall). Everquest actually requires no "instillation", no registry installations, just the files, unless you are using a legitimate CD or etc. If you obtained your client from a... Yarg me mateys!... website, all you need to do is follow the directions. Send to desktop a shortcut of eqgame.exe, add patchme to the target, edit the eqhost, etc.

Wow...okay. That was the problem. When I played before I did use a legit copy of Titanium. Thanks for your help and patience.

Thank you for starting out (this time) with UF though I remember wanting to outright yell at people for refusing to upgrade. There's no reason not to, and the fact that there is a large number of people who refuse to do so only hampers the progress of the emu project.
