With the 33% boost (seems like zombie archery mitigation penalty toward ranged) I'm at 1459 DPS full buffed non disc.

So to sum it up with a real comparison:

I was at 1330 Before the Panther change on mobs that don't give an archery penalty.

After change 1459 DPS Archery.

This is without any kind of spell DD focus.

So Archery Damage is sitting at about 70% of melee damage given a proper comparison.

keep in mind that ranger 2.0 has a 80% chromatic DD foci (effects panther and shaman 2.0)

I feel like we should have the opportunity to hand in our 2.0 sword for a 2.0 bow of a similar power level, keeping with the 70% of melee damage.

I for one at least do not want to be type-casted back into meleeing high end like live, I think that was a gross mistake on EQ's part.

I used to feel the same way honestly, but once you get ST lifetap augs etc then life becomes much easier melee-wise. Rangers can crit heal with the lifetap procs, and that really helps. It's all a matter of playstyle though. I just happen to not mind meleeing on my ranger as much now as I used to. Sure, it's much easier to box with a bow, but I would much rather that extra 30% DPS even if it means a bit more work + eating rampage.

And that's why I feel like we should have the option, I don't want to take away from your ranger, but mine could use a reward for his 2.0 efforts once I obtain it.

As far as Archery Focus goes, the Melee Cleave focus effect works for bows, but not Ferocity. Also, I believe Sharpshooting does absolutely nothing once you get past the 2240 Attack for 96% or 97% hit rate.

After thinking about it for awhile:

There's no way the specific mob we're parsing on causes us to do 33% less archery damage yet has no penalty vs melee damage. That makes no sense at all in any form of EQ I have ever played.

Just running my parser in general, my damage really is as low as I parsed fully buffed. And the range on the panther proc that was added is very prohibitive. It might be useful 1 out of 3 or 4 raid encounters because I can actually be in that close on the mob.

I'll only run 2 or 3 characters next NToV clear and run my log parser.

I think (!) i could do that following -

create a container similar to the red scabbard. You put in Sword and click combine and you get a (yet to be defined/created bow). You put in bow and click combine and you get your sword back.

Now tell me i rock!

I thought about that when I posted the idea, but, what about augments? :|
