Ahhh okay thanks for explaining. I was worried white damage was melee attacks exclusively. Sounds like a clever, future proof fix to EQ aggro. Bravo sir!

this might be a silly question, but if lets say this multiplier was X1 currently, and you change it to x.1, does that mean +9500 Hate procs are now 95 hate procs?

I havent looked at the emu code in for ever, so I dont remember how its setup.

will this also apply to how much initial hate is generated when a mob aggros on you just by walking by it? (I think this value is 1, but I could be wrong)

You are way over complicating it :)

If your spell adds 9500 hate, then that is what it adds.
There is an additional multiplier added into it that works like this:
100+spell bonuses + worn bonuses + AA bonuses + class bonuses.

If your spell, worn, AA and class bonuses are all 0's then you would be left with 100% multiplier.

The code then generates the final end value as Hate value (9500) * multiplier (100) / 100 = 9500.

Before this change the multiplier was getting messed up and multiplying itself by 10. So a 100 multiplier was becoming 1000. Thus the old formula was doing hate value (9500) * multiplier (1000) / 100 = 95000.

That is why people were blowing through the hate cap so quickly. It's not a nerf to anyone because its a blanket reduction on hate values across the board to everything.

Thanks for that :) Yeah I didnt figure it wa sa nerf, but it occurred to me that there are things that arent spells, or melee that generate hate.

I should really download the source and look at it again.. like I said, its been way too long

Remember also that THF uses a lot of custom code. Especially within the hate/aggro code because we upped the hate cap before and had to redo a large portion of the aggro generation coding to compensate for that increase.
