Test Forum Idea

Hello,

I have tested when I can and concerning the issues I know about. Sometimes it is daunting looking for the open issues. What might be valuable is having a sticky post with the ongoing testing that link to the test thread for the results. Might help those that can test know what is needed. Obviously it is not needed for everything but might help when the devs need some further testing by the players.

Something like

Sticky Post:
Currently Testing: X (Date Open - Date Closed)
See thread Y for details on what is needed to test, how to post results

Thread Y:
Need testing of spell line Q
Please test using no debuffs on DPS dummy 2
Information needed - DPS, Focus Effects, Auras, EQ Client Used

regards,
Niix

Good idea Niix. I guess we can always sticky when we have something up on test server to test. Usually we make a post about it, but can just make a main thread and keep updating it.

Could look into implementing wiki-style posts. The end result would be a stickied thread and the second post could be editable by all (or most, maybe everyone with a post count > 25?). That way the core posters could maintain the sticky posts to ensure accuracy and up-to-date info in the top post with a last-edited date/edited by tag at the bottom of it.

Details:
One application of the Post Revisions system has also been implemented: wiki-style posts. Any user with the “f_wiki_create” permission can mark a post they have made to be a “wiki post”. Once this is done, the post can be publicly edited by anyone with the “f_wiki_edit” permission. When paired with the revisions system, changes can be tracked and reverted as needed. Note that there are separate settings for wiki posts to regulate the total allowable number of revisions per wiki post and the age of wiki post revisions; this way, you can keep track of more history of a wiki post for a shorter or longer period of time than for normal posts.
