Lifetap DoT's and Mana Conversion's

I noticed that whenever I used the level 49 Necro Lifetap DoT "Bond of Death", that if I had Lich on, it would turn Lich off and replace it with "Bond of Death Recourse", which is the healing you get from Bond of Death. I'm not sure if its suppose to turn off the mana conversion, because when you do a DD Lifetap, it lets you keep lich on.

Found this thread searching this afternoon. I have been running into the same issue with all flavors of tap dots and lich. Is this something that was intended by the devs or did it get changed on live since I stopped playing years ago and that is jsut how it is now? Taps dots and lich were pretty much a bread and butter combo.
