New here.... question about item DS

So I'm new here and noticed that I'm not getting DS messages while wearing items with damageshields... is this expected? or did I dork something up on my client. My zerker Trugrelleb says he should have 19DS... i'm assuming this would help me lvl a bit faster...

items add a dmg shield if you already have a spell with dmg shield effect on you

ex : you have 10 dmg point on item and someone cast a 15 points ds on you , you will get 25 pt ds


Edit : and I'm pretty sure there is a cap on item ds dmg ( something like 25 or 30 )
