Help for setting up THF private login and win 7?

Not sure if it is me or if the guide is not set for win 7.... I followed all the steps except for the only one I cannot is the renaming of the shortcut you create...I receive the following error...from win 7 pro. The name"c:\thehiddenforest\everquest.exe"patchme specified in the target box is not vaild. Make sure the path and file name is correct. This stops me from changing the shortcut....if I try to launch the everquest.exe by itself I get a "unable to establish a connection" error.... I know the directory isn't the normal programs x86, i installed titanium to thehiddenforest folder in the c root of my drive so the provided path is correct. Any help or suggestions?? I want to use THF login servers because for the last week I have been playing from eqemu and the map files and spell files i copied over never end up working, i still end up with blank maps and unknown spells...

If all you are trying to do is switch to THF login shouldn't have to mess with your shortcuts. Unless you were using EQEMUs launcher

I know way too much random stuff.

I was using the eqemu launcher before, I wanted to eliminate that hoping it would fix the maps and spells issue. So I reinstalled titanium and followed the guide....can not connect without the eqemu launcher right now though....

*edit* Okay in light of the 2 new posts that were made while I was writing this, it sounds like the eqemulator launcher could very well be the root of your problems. Still, it's odd that the THF files aren't loading up when you launch the client, so feel free to look over my outdated post below. I don't feel like redoing it =P

Step 1: eqgame.exe shortcut
If you wrote exactly what your shortcut says for the target executable, then it's broken by only a tiny amount. There should be a space between the path and 'patchme'. See the picture for an example.

Step 2: Maps and Server-specific files
If your maps and spell file are not loading correctly for one login server, then they won't load correctly for any login server, as I understand it.

Every THF file, save for maps, goes in to the root of the everquest directory. Every THF file should be overwriting an existing file too. If it's not, then something is wrong. Allow the new to overwrite the old, and merge folders if/when it prompts you to do so. From your question I see you know where you're doing, but there's got to be some small mishap along the way that made this stuff broken for you.

Ok, that part worked! thanks for the advice....still getting connection errors copy pasted the entire eq host thread string and overwrote what was there just incase there was another issue with a space here or there. Still getting the cannot establish a connection error. Going to check into that part on these forums. If you have any suggestions it is much appreciated.
Thanks again

Connection error - maybe your eqhost.txt file has the wrong ports/addresses.
Mine looks like this (UF client). Titanium should use port 5998.
-Note, I use * to make a line unreadable, that way I can switch from THF to eqemu login servers at will. Just make sure the * isn't in front of the one you want to use.

Fixed. Will remove this thread tomorrow to not clutter up the forums with worthless info.

Figured it out, it was a small dumb error on my part.

Don't mean to dwell on the error, but what was it? Odds are someone else has and will again make that error - so you could keep the thread alive just in case.

I am having this issue as well. I have installed the Titanium version of EQ and tried to edit my eqhost.txt to THF one provided and I get a cannot establish a network connection error. I am not sure what is causing this as I have installed THF spells and the exe to that folder. Any help is greatly appreciated.
