LDoN Bug? Problem with points from item sale

Today I finished a LDoN (on hard) and killed the Mad Doctor. He dropped the Opalescent sword which I did not have any use for so I sold it back to the "treasures" merchant.

Doing this increased my adventure points by 1050 bringing me up to 1600 but didn't increase my Ruj theme points.... I can't use the points from the sale on anything. I tried a couple different merchants and can't buy anything over 550 (the amount of points I had before selling the item).

Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

Selling items back does not count toward earned points and as far as I know is intentional. You have to bump up the earned number to get higher cost items.

So you could buy two 550 point items but not a 600 and a 550 until you have hit 600 earned.
