Sune's Vambraces of Eternal Life

From news :
Sune's Vambraces of Eternal Life will now cast the Rk.III versions of the current spell list. She'll now also buff: Mana Inferno Rk. III, Spirit of the Lion Rk. III, Gladiator Rk. III and Moon Curse Rk. III additionally to the previous spell list. Phara Dar kill and level 70 still required to be eligible for the improved buffs.

I think it's a little unfair to give access to Rk. III buffs just after Phara Dir kill :P

I'm not against those spells (I'm really fond of them ;) ) but I think that GM can add one or two more steps before getting those, like getting Rk. II spells when you gain access to Tier 8 and Rk. III for Tier 9, for example.

I was happy with the Rk. II spells, but I am very pleased with the upgrade to the Sune arms. It's not like everyone has them, and if they did, Lillu would be rolling in a Ferrari. 8-)

Honestly, I semi-agree with you, Conradd.

While I absolutely love the change, I did think that it wasn't a matter of fairness, as it was a matter of adding just a bit of challenge to obtaining the higher ranked spells. Having a reward mechanism in place to progression, so to speak.

If you've acquired said donor gift, you're likely going to also own other donor gifts. It's no secret that these items trivialize content. Not to mention, the rewards of beating higher content seem to diminish with the more donor gift items you own. If you're decked head to toe, then you have no need to beat content, so speak. But adding a little bit of a tiered reward that is flag-based gives more meaning to defeating Xeru (for example), if it also upgraded your buffs from the Sune arms.

It's a strange argument, I know, but it makes sense to me to find little achievements along the way, even if you did "pay" for that extra boost to help beat content.

But by no means do I believe there to be any element of fairness involved.

Allow me to interject....

I don't think the cleric donor should heal until you area 70.

Dark Charm of Travel should not allow you to pop a porter until you have killed "insert mob name".

Neckless of Endless Mind should not give you double XP until you are at least level 60.

Aeolus, Boots of the Wind should give you negative run speed until you are 70.

I'm good either way on the Sune arm's but they are after a donor item and a rather high end one.

Agree with adding in tier markers for receiving better buffs from Sune arms as you go through tiers. As it stands, it seems like it goes from pre-rank 1 stuff, and jumps all the way to rank 3 just after PD.

Perhaps the following?:
PD --> rank 1's
Xeru -> rank 2's
Vistrinda -> rank 3's

Don't agree with any of the other suggestions from Nizzy ;p

Nizzy is spot on. Calling for a nerf to donor items is ridiculous in itself. Why would someone even care? It doesn't affect anyone negatively, and it doesn't affect the game economy since RK. III spells aren't tradable. Folks donate to make it easier to progress, not to make it easier once they progress.

I must interject again. :mrgreen:

I donate to support the server be it hardware, hosting and data costs. :D

Wait, what?... Nizzy WAS calling for a nerf to donor items, and those nerfs WOULD make it harder to progress. What you're saying makes Nizzy's changes counterintuitive to what you profess about the donor items. Or am I reading your intentions incorrectly?

Nizzy was using sarcasm to make a point. Donor item abilities should be at the sole discretion of the GMs (it is awesome they welcome feedback). They are gifts given in exchange for helping cover the costs of the server. Class balancing, content tuning, and progression are (and should be) done without them in mind. IIRC this was actually discussed recently as well - not tuning content based on donor stuff.

If you don't like the advantage they give don't choose them as the donation package - get something else if you want to donate. If you already have them and don't want to get the rank 3 spells until you hit point X then don't use them until you hit point X.
