Strictly just feedback or suggestion i guess.....

I notice many items with + damage to 1hslashing and 1hblunt....
I could try to look some up on Alla and post links, but mainly t7-t8 items.
I'd love to see some +h2h damage items, or maybe some +flying kick dmg on some items other than the 1 shoulder slot items and 2.0's for monks.

I have seen at least a few highend slot items that had +frenzy or +backstab.

Just a thought, or maybe just let me know if thats not possible =p

Thanks for your time, just a little feedback cause I'd like to see the higher gear give me more +dmg as well as more survivability isnt of just more survivability considering that AC will only get you so far as a leather class =(, would just be an added bonus to look forward to.

Not so sure that AC softcaps are used here. I did some testing a while back and they didn't seem to be in play. Might have changed since and I might have been wrong ;-)

If they're not, then AC is just as good for 'leather' classes as for 'plate' classes, and tanks' best advantages are their defensive type discs.

There definitely is an AC soft cap. It kicks in at around 16k AC I believe, so anything above that doesn't really do anything. That said, tank classes have a built in mitigation % above other classes I believe. Think it's something like 30% - someone chime in and correct me if I'm wrong here.

What you're seeing at 16k isn't really a softcap in the sense that I mean. There is optional code which can be used to provide soft caps for different classes. So you can have cloth wearers well below other classes with similar ac.

Easy way to test if softcaps are enabled is to parse the effect of monk weight increases on mob dmg. If soft caps are enabled, being overweight drops monks into the lower tier (soft cap drops) and they take WAY more damage at high ac levels. When i checked this over a year ago, weight had no statistically significant impact on damage taken by my monk. I should mention that my understanding of this is from viewing the emu code, not from theory or how live works. As long as I didn't misunderstand the code this should be right ;)

Generally speaking there will always be a point where ac adds less and less value, until mob stats acting against ac are increased. Once youre mitigating most of the damage you can, there's not much more ac can do for you :). Keep in mind that unless the system is tweaked ac always has a set chance to be ignored .. Giving you 0 ac on sone hits (same goes for mobs being hit).

All that said, I've got no insight into thf code changes besides what a player sees.

i think the softcaps that jrse is taking about are the ones listed below for each armor class type (This is from live, and the post is from 2008)

Soft Caps
Cloth..........= ~75 worn AC (yes its really that low)
Leather......= ~100 worn AC
Monk..........= ~120 worn AC (if they are under 15 stone wieght)
Chain.........= ~200 worn AC
Plate .........= ~300 worn AC

AC returns after the soft cap has been reached
45%: Warrior (from Devs)
33%: Knight (from Devs), Monk (reportedly equal to Knight? via Zajeer?)
23%: Cleric, Bard (via L2), BZR (rough estimate based off of parsing)
17%: BST, Ranger (BST is ~1/2 of the monk, ranger hearsay)
6%: Druid, Enc, Mag, Nec, Wiz (~1/3 of BST -- Druid was quoted as "lowest")
Rogue, Shaman? Probably they are close to cleric returns.

BTW this info as well as a ton of other cool info can be found here...

BUT, have no idea if this info is true for THF like it was/is for live.

I'm 99% sure te soft caps are not enabled on THF. I can't say 100% without looking at the code (at work atm) but I know we use a different mitigation/AC code than normal eqemu.
