Black Screen after server select

Okay, I linked my account to the ls server for SoD. I log in and see the hidden forest server and test server. I select the public server, and then I get a black screen and nothing more.

I am able to log in fine via the SoF client.

My eqhost file:

[LoginServer]
Host=login.thehiddenforest.org:5999

I have also replaced the spells_us, globalload and thfobjects files. My install is fresh from steam as of last night.

Am I dummy? What have I missed? My SoD works fine on other servers. Any suggestions?

Meaning I have replaced the files as required by THF. As for the steam install, I just deleted it, and restored from backup from when I purchased it. I moved the eq folder out to another location, launched and am having the same problems.

I can connect to EZ, and others that are SoD compliant. Just seems THF is resistant.

Try get ahold of Kron via a PM on the forum maybe it looks like he had/has the exact same issue like you have seen here http://www.thehiddenforest.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=117&t=4080 and check if he figured what his problem was.

Only problem though i think he is retired on THF currently but still lurks around.

The problem is that the newest steam download for sod is not compatible with the server to my knowledge. Steam updated their release and I don't believe the server code for the hidden forest has been updated to allow users with the newest version to login. I can't recall the exact date of which the steam release was updated, but it can prolly be found on eqemulator forums.

If you downloaded steam sod client when it was first released, you will be able to login with it. But if you downloaded sod from steam recently (atleast past 2 months that I know of) you will not be able to log in until the server code is updated.

Thank you for the info. Hopefully the great dev powers that be on EMU and THF will resolve this problem someday soon.

Meanwhile, reluctantly, I am using the SoF client <shudder>. Good server though so far.

Is this the same issue with the Steam Underfoot client? As I had it working just fine until ~this tuesday or so I think (my memory is horrid when it comes to time. I d/ced due to a net outage and then started having the issue where first I'd go to the character screen, then crash, now crash while loading the server (any server for that matter) Currently reinstalling hoping that'll help but more information if it is the files I have available (the steam UF) that is at fault.

Happy trails,

BloodyMutt

Edit:
It appears to be an issue with logging in with an eqemu account, just registered one for THF specifically, used the private server log in and got in. Hope it gets fixed as I have several character names now locked =( I don't mind starting over but those are my names q.q
