The Hidden Forest

I have been away from this game for a very long time. Today I downloaded it from Steam (SoD) I followed all the instructions in setting things up including downloading spell files etc... When I get to the character select screen, I can see my characters, but when I try to log in the game then says (Not Responding) and I cannot log in.

When I changed the host to THF host, I was able to log into the game, but all my characters are missing so I had to create a new one in order to get in.

Last time I played I had SoF so I dont know if that is the issue, or if maybe because I have been gone for so long that perhaps my characters were wiped from the database.

Please help!

Actually I am able to log in using the Steam client version of SoD, but only if I log using the THF host. Problem is my characters are not showing up on the THF host login.

Is your SoD install clean? I mean no custom UI files or old ini files or anything like that just the official files? My only guess would be a resolution or damaged file (UI or ini) issue.

The blank THF account is easy. It's not your eqemu account, it's a different (THF) account but with the same name. You can read a bit more about the THF and Eqemu account confusion here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3266

If you didn't register your eqemu accounts with THF login server (ingame, with #setlsinfo command), you won't be able to use them over the THF LS. You have to do it in game prior to switching to THF LS.

Hmmm, cant really say on that one. I will try and uninstall everything and then re-install after making sure that all of the files are removed before a new install. But even still would that prevent me from getting on from eqemu when I was able to get on with the THF account even though it was without characters?

If you had character specific UI or ini files, yes, pretty much it could be the issue.

I uninstalled everything related to EQ including going in after the uninstall and cleaned everything up that was left behind and then after re-installing, everything worked out fine! I am back in Thanks for the help your suggestions worked perfectly!
