Cannot find Server

Howdy,

I haven't logged in here in many years (2012!) Anyhow, I have been playing on other Emulators here and there over the years, and decided to come back here and check things out. Like I do each time I start on a new Emulator, I install a fresh copy of EQ (RoF2 Client) and then follow install instructions from the server.

So, I downloaded the zip file for the downloader/patcher. Ran that, it installed everything, clicked play. Would not let me connect. Essentially got the no network connection error as if I was trying to log into the live game. So, I then created a shortcut of EQGame.exe and sent to desktop, added patchme on the directory in properties. Also, added the Login Server info to EQHost.txt. Fixed the issue. Now, the issue I am currently having. I have searched up and down and I do not see The Hidden Forest server on the list of servers.

Any idea what's going on with this?

Oddly enough i changed the wording up in the EQHost file a little and then I saw the server, but when loggin out and switching toons, the entire server list disappeared, went back to how it was worded originally, server list re-appeared, but no THF server listed.

This shows a list of servers everytime, however, The Hidden Forest does not show up
[LoginServer]
# Host=login.eqemulator.net:5999
Host=login.projecteq.net:5999

Now, move the # to the bottom and it "can" show a server list, this shows The Hidden Forest server on that list. However, I can try and login to the server select 50 times and now servers will appear.
[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5999
# Host=login.projecteq.net:5999

Appreciate any help! I will check back to this thread when I get time and try again hopefully!

Have you looked at THF player guide?

Hello and welcome back!

Your EQ client will connect to a login server and will use that to connect to a server through it (basically that's where you see the server list).

[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5999
# Host=login.projecteq.net:5999

The green line is indeed the correct one to connect to as that is the official eqemu login server. (projecteq has their own login server, just like THF but THF is not connecting to projecteq's login server, that's why you don't see it when you are using the Host=login.projecteq.net:5999 line in your eqhost file)

If you see THF on the login servers' list, your eqhost file settings are fine. From that point I think it's a client issue.

I assume you aren't using the THF client so I'd recommend to download it and follow our Play Guide.

I did try using the Play Guide but whenever I click play after the files get done installing/updating, and I put in my eqemu login/password, it gives me a connection error, so that does not work for me. I'll try that way again with another fresh install and see what happens. I guess if I cannot get it to work/show the server I'll just have to move on because I am not sure why else it would not show THF on the list of servers since it shows every other server pretty much. If it's something on my end, I have no idea what would cause that because I do not run any firewalls, have any AV software etc that would cause that issue.

Okay. Just did a fresh install of RoF2 - re-downloaded the THF installer. Put it in my EQ folder, opened installer, let it do it's thing. Clicked play, put in my eqemulator login and password and this is what I got.

I changed nothing and did exactly as the play guide said.

Also wanted to add. When opening the Everquest folder after letting THF program install and update files int hat folder, this is what my EQHost.txt file shows

[LoginServer]
Host=eqlplogin1.everquest.com:15900

What exactly should I be changing it too? I had assumed the THF installer would update that file, but it's just defaulted to what comes with the RoF2 client.

Last post. I change the EQHost.txt file too the below and attached is what I am seeing when logging in, so you know what it looks like on my end.

EQHost.txt File:
[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5999
# Host=login.projecteq.net:5999

Are you launching game play from the updater?

Should be running game from copied eqgame.exe modified file.

-You must edit "eqgame" by:
C:/folder/folder/EQ folder/eqgame.exe > right click > create short cut

-Now right click "eqgame - shortcut" and Edit Target section by adding " patchme" to the end.
Example:
Target box should have this in it ["C:/folder/folder/EQ folder/eqgame.exe" patchme]

Yes. I have tried via patcher/updater.

Yes, I have done that as well. I have been playing on Emulators for about 15 years now, that is the general rule of thumb.

So, I tried the updater/patcher. I tried running off the shortcut I created. I have changed the EQhost file to different variations and pasted my results.

I only ever see 2 "Legends" servers. Moving the # to the bottom portion "should" open up ALL Legend servers, but it doesn't for me. I get a blank server list.

I assume it has something to do with possibly a network setting on my PC. This is my only guess. I have a friend who has the same ISP as me. Used the same RoF2 client download as I did, everything identical to what I did, he can see ALL the Legend servers when having the # on the bottom portion as mentioned previously.

So, I can only come up with his network settings may be different than mine. Not sure what else it could be. But I have given up at this point. I was really hoping someone would have an answer. I've googled it and I have seen other people with the same issue, but majority does not post a fix or what worked. Or I tried what they said worked and it no longer works.

I'll check back and see if anyone has any other advice.
