Just wanted to put some commonly requested information in one spot for new players on THF and old players alike.

Q: What is THF?

1) THF stands for "The Hidden Forest". This should be apparent, but many people ask over /ooc when told how to enter various zones or where to buy goods.

2) THF is a zone that acts as a central hub where one can find class trainers, spell scribers, buffers, banker, starting armour sets, custom quests and teleporters into custom zones and normal zones. As such, most players will always bind in the THF and move through content visiting THF often.

Q: Where do I find bots?

1) You don't. There is no vendor or quest for bots. To make a bot refer to the #bot help create, command in-game.

Q: How many bots can I have?

1) You can have 1 bot at any one time, in any one group (provided you are the leader). Bots are always added to the group last so if you have one out and form a group the bot will die and you will have to wait to resummon another bot.

2) You can have many different classes of bots for various circumstances (rogues to open doors) but the rule above applies at all times. Regardless of how many bots you have made, their classes etc.. you can only have 1 active bot.

Q: How do I add a bot to my group, How do I remove a bot from my group?

1) If you use the #bot help command it will list every available command you can use with your bots in-game and it goes into some detail. In short:

To add a bot to your group: target bot, type, #bot group add to remove target bot and type, #bot group remove (at which point the bot will die). You can also use ctrl+I to add your bot to your group.

2) You may also target your bot and click disband, this leaves your pet out of the group and allows you to make additions to your group without despawning your bot. Use #bot group add to add the bot to your group again.

Q: I like to box, how many characters can I box?

1) The limit was 4, now you can have more provided you can handle playing them without 3rd party assistance. Players using 3rd party programs will be flagged as such and banned.

Q: Why won't my bot heal properly?

1) Is it a healer?

2) It is a bot and bots are designed to be stupid. They are not supposed to be, nor will they ever be replacements for players. If you want a reliable healer box one, find a group or join a guild.

Q: My pal/sk/ranger/bst bot stop attacking and run back to me and sit down mid-fight, how do I fix this?

1) Stop using bots, or;
2) spamm an attack macro so the pet will re-engage the mob. The pets aren't designed to be the smartest things around and will often med when low on mana, or if you are out of combat range too long.

Q: My character is stuck and I need help getting out.

1) If you have your charm and are a melee character, you have a clicky item with gate. You can try that first, however;

2) If you are stuck in a position where you cannot cast you can summon a shaman bot and have it shrink you (See #bot help) and lastly,

3) You can use the /rewind command provided you have stopped trying to move for 30ish seconds.

4) You can also spawn a druid or wizard bot and have them succor you out of the area.

5) Failing these methods, use the thf forum portal tool for stuck characters.

If none of the above work, you can ask for GM assistance, though the GMs are usually very busy working behind the scenes or having coffee.

Q: What is the haste cap? How does haste work?

1) The current haste cap is 133 percent
2) The cap consists of all Item Haste + Spell OR Song Haste + Over Haste Clicky or Over haste Bard Song
3) Haste items do not stack, highest applies, the rest don't count.

Q: What are custom zones and what is this custom content?

1) Custom zones differ from EQ zones in many ways. First the mobs are generally very different, either in look, placement, capabilities and in the loot they drop.

2) Custom zones or more-or-less progression zones. Each one should be considered a group zone with the possible exception of the first tier zones (t0) crushbone and paludal caverns.

3) When you enter a custom zone, everything you thought you knew about the mobs is outdated and the level bracket for each zone represents how hard the zone would be for a well balanced group of players in those levels.

4) Regardless of whether or not you can kill the typical trash type mobs in various custom zones, the bosses are often much, much, much tougher.

Q: Where do I find better weapons?

1) The best weapons are quested or found on bosses in custom zones.

2) You can also buy donator weapons by donating to the operation of the server.

Q: Where do I get better armour?

1) Custom zones and through quests.

2) The first upgraded set of armour can be found in t1 zones (Guk, Mist and Karnors). Bosses have a random chance of dropping a piece of rusty armour and chaotic coins. If you visit sheever in THF he has a turn in quest to turn your rusty armour into chaotic armour.

Q: Does THF have 2.0 epics?

1) Yes. THF has 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 and 2.5 epics.

Q: X doesn't work for me

1) There are a few spells and AAs which are broken or do not work correctly within the eqemu. Your best bet is to check the eqemu forums for updates, or search THF forums for others who may have reported the same problem and gotten a response.

2) If you have found a problem with an item or a spell that hasn't been reported, please do so in the feedback section and be as detailed as possible so someone can fix it. Feedback is very important and encouraged.

Q: I wear Y and my bot uses X type armour. How do I upgrade my bot since I can only get Y armour from Sheever?

1) Hand the armour into Sheever until you get the type of armour you need for your bot.

2) Bots can now use augments in armour, to augment a piece of armour, go to the bird pond, place the armour in the bird bath along with the aug you want to use and type #bot augmentitem

Q: I can't give my bot armour/I can't take armour from my bot

1) You can only remove items your player has given to the bot.

Q: Where should I grind exp/aa?

1) Use the community portal to see which zones you should be in, what items drop and changes to custom spells.

Q: Can bots use clickies?

1) No

Q: What makes each bot different?

1) Each class of bot has unique abilities that apply to that class. For example, rogues can picklocks and backstab, clerics can resurrect, warriors taunt, rangers can track, druids and wizards can port, necros can summon corpses. Some abilities have been removed because of exploits, but in general #bot help will list most of the abilities each class can perform.

2) In addition to class abilities, bots also pocess all the aa's they can have at the level they are summoned. So a lvl 51 bot will have all applicable aa someone at 51 could have, that said, bots do not use most of the active aa's and use mostly passive aa's.

Q: OK, so the rogue can picklocks? Mine doesn't what do I need?

1) Rogue bots can pick doors easily, no specific level is required (that I know of), however positioning the bot is paramount when attempting to pick a lock.

2) It is best to create a macro such as the following to summon a bot and have them pick a lock. Macros can contain 5 lines. Enter each line seperately without the line x:

Line 1: /tar <bot name>
Line 2: /pause 5
Line 3: #bot summon
Line 4: /pause 5
Line 5: #bot picklock

To make this macro work for you, stand as close to the door you want open as possible, preferably in the middle, and hit the macro button you have made.

Q: How do I know what to type to go to different zones?

1) you can use http://www.thehiddenforest.org/zonelist.php or

Q: How do I get dyes?

1) Donate

Q: How can I remove augs without destroying them?

1) Donate

Q: I see the spell scriber, but how do I get all my discs? Are tomes sold somewhere?

1) The spell scriber also gives out /discs.

Q: My mana regen sucks, why is it so low?

1) Chances are your meditation sucks, or hasn't even been trained.

2) Talk to the spell scriber and say meditate to have your meditate skill raised to 200.

Q: How can I twist as a bard?

1) use /melody 1, 2, 3, 4 not #melody

2) you can simplify which songs are played in various circumstances by creating a macro specific to that event changing the variables in sequence to whatever you like.

3) Additionally, if you'd like to stop playing altogether, create a macro containing /melody 0

4) songs should stop after 3secs or so of pressing your stop melody macro.

Q: My songs keep interupting when I attempt them!

1) Talk to the bard composer in THF and he will raise all your performance skills to 200.

Q: What is the haste cap? How does haste work?

1) The current haste cap is 133 percent (verification?)
2) The cap consists of all haste items, spells and songs affecting the player.
3) haste items stack.

The cap is 133%, but that is not the cap with songs. With bard songs it's possible to reach 163% haste via bard overhaste.

Cap is 133%. Haste items do not stack.

What stack is : Item Haste + Spell OR Song Haste + Over Haste Clicky or Overhaste Bard Song.

Couple of additions:

* A bot can be disbanded, a group member added/remove, and the bot invited again via #bot group add. This allows you to keep the bot up and change your group around.

* Another way to get unstuck is to evac with a wizbot.

Q: Does THF have 2.0 epics?

1) Not yet, although it does have working custom 1.5 epics which require a group or guild to complete and are not soloable under most circumstances.

We have 2.0 now right?
