Someone would link in Main that Breast Plate of the Pot Smoker, or whatever it's name was? Them were the good old days. What do you remember when?

I remember when you were like a god if you wore bronze armor.

that was Cloak of the Wise + Pot + Smocker
that was around 2001, the cloak came from Tier 1 PoP quest

On my own server, when I open Plane of Mischief, this is going to be an actual item yu can quest for

I remember getting excited by having a full suit of banded armour... And yes, Bronze was godlike then.

I visited Unrest recently and a couple bits of bronze dropped. One nostalgia hit of many since joining here :)

I like to explore and so most of my fond memories are of finding a new place. Like when my necro came across the island with the Sisters of Erollisi on it in the OoT. Kiting them along the waters edge, spreading the taint of Bertoxxulous across the face of Norrath. Hated elves in those days =)

Although the first "Wow!" impression of EQ I had the day I decided to try to get to Rivervale from Qeynos. I had been playing for a day or two and after looking at the map, I thought to myself "well that doesn't look too far". Running through the Karanas made such an impression on me and after an hour or so coming to the long canyon that leads to Highhold with the large stone carvings in the mountain sides. There were no games with that kind of scope back then. Running and running with danger all around. Truly, grabbed me and hasn't let go.

Sums it up well. Everquest is deeply flawed in so many ways yet is, without question, the only MMO that grabs this atmosphere.

The zones are, mostly, tiny compared to some other games. But they've always felt bigger.

I remember the first time I visited Kunark via the wizard portal. For some reason the group got split up in Dreadlands and I found myself alone; a warrior with no way of getting home quickly and no method of hiding or moving quickly. Plus, I had never been to Dreadlands and, as such, did not know where to go.

This was before the luxury of maps in game and I didn't know about EQAtlas at the time. I found myself zoning into Burning Wood and everything was red or yellow to me (yellow to a warrior back then was death, basically). I had to keep moving and constantly ask ooc and other channels for a loc to a zone out of there. Using just /loc and my wits, dodging the dozens of red and yellow aggressive mobs, I actually survived to reach the Mountains and to (relative) safety. The whole ordeal seemed to last an eternity but I had to force myself to do it; the alternative was to die and then what? Corpse retreival was a very serious thing in Everquest back then!

Burning Wood felt like the biggest and most dangerous place I'd ever seen. No game has come close since.
