Error - A timeout occured

I just installed the Titanium Edition, did this ""C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme" to the shortcut to eqgame.exe I put on the desktop and then changed the eqhost.txt to this "Host=eqemulator.net:5998" and I am getting a " Error - A timeout occured" when I enter my username and password in and hit Log In.

I am using Windows 7 Professional. What am I doing wrong?

check your firewall settings, something might block the communication with the login server.

We have a connection guide too: CLICK!

Yep that is the guide I used. No there is no firewall going (except maybe the built in Windows one but that doesn't stop any other MMORPGs from playing). And the timeout is instant, as soon as I hit Login it displays that so it isn't even attempting.

Any ideas?

Try to turn off your firewall at least to check if it is the issue. Also, check your hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc) if it contains any unneeded ip/host name bindings.

Other than that, not idea tbh..

I have disabled Windows firewall to no avail.

I have full internet access for everything else. Anyone else playing this on Win7?

I have no idea. You may want to post about this at Eqemu forums

Try this in your eqhost.txt, but more importantly tell me if this works so I can change the guide:

[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998

Note the prefix addition.

Well, at least you got to the login. Figured I would give it a try since I just recently upgraded to Win7 in the last week and I'm getting memory errors when trying the SoF client. I don't actively play anymore to be honest so I may try a bit more, but memory problems are blech.

Remove the quotes from around ""C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme".
