macro question

Heyo I just had a quick question about macros since I started 4 boxing. I am pretty terrible at it so looking for some suggestions. I am not very good at making macros but isnt there a way that I can have my wiz/mage cast on their own by making a macro? I read somewhere that you can make one like i listed below.

/cast 1
/pause 20
/cast 1

will this only cast twice or do I have to keep going through the lines to have it cast multiple times? Is 20 secs a good amount of time for like a 7 sec spell cast time? 10 sec spell? looking for some ideas on this as well.

I was also wondering if I can do this with my cleric as well for a continuous cheal chain and what would be a good pause. I will be boxing a bst/wiz/mage/cle. Any suggestions and information is appreciated. Love the server ... so much fun :-)

Yes your example would allow to only cast 2 times the spell you have memmed in gem 1.

Some help with macro examples you can find here http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts/list.m?topic_id=17806

In regards what a good timing is for Chain casting a specific spell i can't really give you cause it all depends on your in game lag if you have any spellhaste the char uses etc... .

And honestly for Heals i wouldn't use hotkeys that have more than 1 heal loaded due that if you want or need to cast out of sudden another spell you will risk that you can't do it (due spell on cooldown or Macro would try fire at the same time the 2nd cast off).

Ill just play around with it I guess with my castors...obv theres always a situation where you have to improvise but I was just kinda wonderin how the macro thing worked...take care!~

I have been lazy but its a good thing to use on a box caster that isnt the primary healer.
Can set my necro to debuff then dot and second dot on one key.
Second key is dot Gtap Ptap.
Only need to tab to the necro once every now and again.
Works better with a wizard as you can figure out the /pause you need for the nukes (based on your gear) and fire off 3 nukes while only looking at the screen every X seconds.
Not counting spell fizzles etc.

I just dont care for that. Maybe if I ran war, cleric on one computer so something like 4 key was flurry on warrior and normal heal on cleric.
My set up just doesnt support it, would cause more issues then anything else.

Well depends just need to be creative with the hotkey assignments like ctlrl+alt+shift+1 but those kinda hotkeys almost "require" a programmable keyboard/keypad.
Atm i run up to 10 chars on 2 computers and have on my keyboard alone 18 x 3 programmable keys + n52 + WoW mouse.

After boxing 12-18 daily on EZ im happy to only play 4 or 5 at a time. My programmable keyboard is broken and I dont know when I will replace it.
