I'm currently testing a system with my own boxes to automatically keep the server's custom files up to date, user-transparently, without adding a step to the login process.
Would anyone be interested in using it once I can verify that it works properly?

I'm not a dev of course, but as a player, that sounds good.

Can you explain it a little more?
Myself I hate using patchers because I prefer to know exactly which files are going where, when it happened and where my backups are.

I may have jumped the gun with the initial question, as the system I am using for my own machines is too vulnerable in regard to malicious activity (or even just simple user error) to open to the general public (involves using a dropbox shared folder and hard linking the custom files to the appropriate locations for eq to see them).
However, if there is actual interest, I'll whip together an actual patcher app which can chainload eq. If I get either approval, or cooperation from the server administrators, I can either scrape the forums for the files, or just get a constant url for them respectively, and it would insert them into your specified eq folder when launched, if they were changed.
