Group Bug

Theirs a bug that's been around since the last rev update, and it's in regards to group leaders. When a group is formed, only the group leader gains the benefit of the leadership AA's. By this I mean, if the leader has health enhancement purchased, only he gets the benefit and no one else does.
When the group leader zones, he loses the ability to invite new members. It's as if when you first invite people, it triggers something that semi-recognizes you as a group leader..but once you zone then the group no longer has a leader. The only way to fix this is to have everyone disband, then reinvite everyone individually. Even then, you're still stuck with only the GL having the leader aa benefits.
Theirs also a bot bug where once a group zones, there can be issues with summoning bots/adding them to your group. The "group leader" will try to summon a bot and add it, but the bot will more often than not say that only the group leader can add bots to a group. This issue is long standing, and existed even before the group bug I speak of now.
To go more in detail about the bot bug, it works like this. Picture your group in pofire, and everyone but 1 of your group members zones out. If your leader zones back in, then he will still be recognized as being the group leader to bots, and can add bots freely. Now, if the whole group zones out and then back in, the group leader no longer exists in the bots eyes. If the leader attempts to add one, he will get the message that he's not the leader. If anyone else tries, they get the same message.
I'm not sure if the bot bug and the other group bug I stated at first are related, but if not then they're still tedious ><. I was hoping a rev update would fix it, but I haven't heard any news of another rev update so figured I'd finally just post this. I know I spoke with Striat in tells about it as soon as I noticed, but he wasn't really sure what the issue was off hand. I tried doing #grouprefresh on all toons, also, and it doesn't fix the issue.

I will look into this when I get SVN access. I have a feeling I know what the problem is, and I will speak with the rest of the EQEmu Devs in IRC about this. Thank you for your report!

Another weird thing i have noticed is that when your group leader gets booted from the group (have seen it after camping with the group leader, other boots might do it too) then all of the leadership aa's will become active for the rest of the group. The most noticeable ones are the hp%'s showing up in your targets names, hit point boosts, and spell casting messages tell you what spell is being cast. This is with no leadership exp ever being accumulated on any of the characters in the group.

I can vouch for this. I always group with my same group (Rynn clr + Shin brd + 4 other chars of mine) and shin has a ton of LAA's pumped, namely Spell Awareness.
I noticed when I form the group with Shin as leader, Shin has spell awareness, but all my other clients don't.
I grouped up today in nektulosb and left the zone with shin. My other group members had spell awareness working after Shin left the zone, which I found weird since I'm very used to it not working.. I wonder if Shin leaving the zone made it actually work? need to test more.
Also seems there's a bug when bards play songs it comes up in spell awareness, but it only shows the song name.. E.g.
<Chorus of Life>
where if a spell is casted:
Rynn begins to cast a spell. <Conviction>
So bard reporting in spell awareness needs to be excluded or if it is kept make sure it shows the bard's name.

Make leader command is also not working. (to change the current group leader)

To expand on Crumb's post ... when typing /makeleader it will say it changes the leader and then you are no longer the leader. However, that new person is not the leader either. If someone attempts to fix this, be wary of players being leader, summoning a bot, /makeleader, and then the other player summons a bot - would provide up to 3 bots in a group.

when you zone, you lose group leadership. this will be an issue for adventures, since there you have to be group leader to be able to get an adventure. once Striat is back in a ction, we'll look into this and hopfully find a fix. Maybe Shin can cough up something too?

Is it not possible to group up, get instance, port in, reform, complete instance, port out?

getting instance isn't an issue, you group up in the zone where you get the instance and just get it. so it works, just not too comfortable, since need to form groups in the zone where you get the adventure, and stay there till you got it. also, all have to go back if they want new adventure. so it's not like back in the days on live, when only 1 unlucky player (usually a quick bard

) had to run back to get new adventure after a win...

It's sort of on my todo, right now I've been writing some really cool crap relating to bots... if I get that at a semi working point, i'll come back and see about resolving this...
