Necromancer: Swarm of Decay

For a 3/6/9 AA, this AA is extraordinarily weak.

It summons 1/2/3 swarm pet skeleton "archers" (in reality, melee skeletons with dual flaming mace weapons that resemble Fennin Ro's) that automatically attack a given target until killed. However, they are exceptionally weak in combat (they seem a lot less damaging and durable than the Beholder swarm summoned by my Epic 2.0), and are on a 30 minute recast timer (by comparison, the beholders are on a 1 minute timer).

Is there a chance that the skeletons for this AA could be corrected to actually be archers? Also, could the AA as a whole could be buffed up to either justify its huge cooldown, or its cooldown lowered to justify its lack of strength? Right now, it's just not worth having.

I believe these are the spells associated with this AA:
Swarm of Fear I
Swarm of Fear II
Swarm of Fear III

they are so week, cause they really were suppose to be archers =)

mob archery just doesn't yet work right on emu

here is a proposition for Lillu:

-give them a spell list with a few nice 70+ nukes/dots
-set their move speed to 0 - so they always stay put and never go after the mob
-set recast timer to like 5 min

And yeah, those beholders are mean - I designed them :D

Well if im reading it correctly they are currently level 67 warrior based pets.
What about making them rogue or monk since a smart necro gets them on the back of the target. could be that short burst of extra dps that way.

All the other swarm spells / procs of classes that get them summon warriors too. You get spells that proc pets, forgive me if i'm unenthusiastic about you getting a buffed aa ;)

Honestly, IMO I think swarm pets should be one of the focuses of the Necromancer as a class; right alongside DoTs, lifetaps, and anti-undead crowd control.

You ever see zombies and skeletons in movies attacking alone? Nah - they attack in droves, hordes, swarms. Necros have weaker main pets than mages, and DoTs produce less DPS than wizard nukes, even when you stack 4-5 of them together; why not let them call up and launch hordes of expendable fire-and-forget undead while waiting for their DoTs to run their course?

Because the AA is just a pretty little toy and nothing worth writing home about.
I dont use my necro outside of random times when I am hanging out with friends or I've logged it in to loot some rot silk.
So if the aa is buffed or not doesnt effect me however there are others out there that use the class and so I am putting out suggestions.
I have not bothered to check what the other classes swarm pets are and did not feel it was relevant however if that is going to be a basis for arguing against the idea of buffing the line then then...
Wizards of course nuke harder and a doner wiz has a hard time going oom.
My necro has doner and eh gear but goes oom fast if im working the dps.
Mages have eh dd but good enough pet.
Necro pet is better then sk, kinda. Personal opinion and all.

I can live with a middle of the road pet since the class is not pet focused but damage over time focused with pet as support.
The dps side of the house they lose out to wizards and mages but it boils down to what Nerva has been saying. The resist mods on the necro spells are really bad and the poison / disease line pretty much does not exist.

Not asking for god mode here just saying that a short duration AA swarm pet that does decent damage for the limited time its up would be cool. Its already been suggested to reduce the reuse on the AA and with that you could consider adjusting how long the pets stay up for.

Regardless, Nerva has been posting good stuff. Keep it up.
