First Time Install

Hi,

I'm interested in playing THF and have downloaded the ROF2 zip. I was able to install the files and run the THF patcher. When I select play, I get the error message: eqgame.exe - Application Error. Application unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).

Has anyone seen this before or knows how to fix it?

Hey there.

There was a similar issue reported here back in 2016:

My only guess is that your install files are corrupted or missing somehow? The RoF2 client from our download should run on it's own even without the patcher. Maybe try to download the client again and make a separate install folder for the new download.

Installing EQ on Windows 10 was a bear for me, due to some folders having limited permissions.
I think my workaround was creating a C:\Games folder and installing EQ there instead of the Program Files folder.

Still haven’t been able to get it to work. I’ve tried a new direct x install. I’ve also tried in program files and a separate games folder.

I should’ve mentioned that I’m on Win7.

Live EQ also works with no problem.

I’ll keep you updated if I figure it out. I appreciate the help!

This, the windows extract had been breaking files for some reason. Winrar or 7zip liked it better.
