New player

Heya guys.

New guy here gonna start playing this monday after i get the Game cds from my real life cuz who plays this game and some of you may know him. His name is Jurvious and hes only in his 30s i think but he has told me much about this EQemu and i figured i will give it ago. I have a couple of questions if you guys dont mind. Bards and Wizards are they post nerf patch or pre? What i mean by this is can they hit more then 4 targets at once with there songs/spells?
Also Cleric/Enchanters are they worth playing since you have custom bots that can be anything? I was a hardcore raider in EQ up to GoD then quit so i am really looking to get into this.

Thanks guys any info you can give me would be great. :D

Welcome to the server! Glad you have found us and hope you enjoy your stay :)

With bots and other various customizations, things are going to be much different than the EQ you may be used to. We strive to give each class enough reason for people to play them and, for the most part, this seems to be working. Of course, warriors make up the largest percentage, but everyone has their place.

I don't know about wizard and bard targetting, perhaps Chaos knows?

Bots are quite limited and hardly can even begin to fill the shoes of a real player or boxed character. For example, I play a Cleric/Rogue combo and can easily run amok on any of the non-raid targets up to raid tier 3. However, if I tried to do that with a botted Cleric instead, I can't even reliably take out the trash in tier 2 zones. I play a main Cleric (one of the few who do) and have enjoyed it thoroughly, but you would want something to tank/dps.

Chanters then fill the gap right there very well. On THF, Chanters don't really fill the CC role as their isn't too much need. Instead they typically take the role of charm DPS/tanking and great care has been done to make decent charm beasties available (along with set duration spells) in most (all?) zones. For example, one time we were raiding tier 2 (ToV) long ago and were going for a Vulak kill which was moderately new to us. We had limited resources and all our tanks/off tanks and most of our DPS fell at 10%. However, the charmed worm stepped up to the plate and 3 clerics spammed him with AHL in order to keep him up and he finished off Vulak and saved the raid. Of course, this is a raid example, but I think it adequately shows the power of the chanter who is more of a "high risk, high reward" class here as it should be. Heck, chanters can solo stuff easily that I can't even dream of taking with my duo.

There is plenty of content here to make the hardcore raider happy also :)

Kewl so clerics/enchanters are actually viable on this server for raiding. ;)
About the Bard/Wizard thing well in EQ way back in the day when POP was the newest Xpansion bards songs could hit as many enemies that where around him but once sony found out that bards could pull all of the mobs in C1 or C2 of PoFire and mass farm aa's they made there songs have a hit cap of 4 along with wizard AoE Nukes (why its called Quad Kiteing now).
I would still like to know if this has been patched or not because this will probly make my mind up on playing a bard/wizard or a clr/ench.

mmm actually Target AOE nukes were always limited to 4 targets only (I was Quad Kiting in the days of Velious), except Alkabor nukes which could hit 5 targets

The PB AOE nukes on other hand have unlimited number of targets.

Been reading the Guides alot and this is what i have learned! Paladin bots are the lords of all bots, You can get your epic 1.0 and full class armor at lvl 1 and you can do the same for your bot. Raiding starts at lvl 70 with SSRA temple Tier 1 and goes to Tier 5 PoF i think. 1 thing i read that kinda turns me off is that most of the guilds are exclusive to players with a certain degree of gear or just not recruiting, is this true?

I start tomorrow so im just trying to learn EVERYTHING i can. :D

there are crap load of guilds.
many small tier guilds too.
many people make guild just for themselves and their bots.
But you just need to start playing, and leveling up, and I am sure you will pick someone up along the way ;)

Yeah i start tomorrow finally and i think im going to love playing this server. Sorry for so many questions i think im just to hyped and ready to play but i have to wait on the CDs.

Still havent decided on a class but i probly wont until last min. Was gonna play a Enchanter until i found out they arnt used for CC but more for DPS/Buffs.

Back in the day guilds needed them for CC big time. If i remember correctly you needed what 4 enchanters for PoI Magnetic Behemoth raid? Im not sure if this is the case but im going on what i read.

BTW if any of my questions are a burdon you dont have to reply lol im just trying to get all the info i can before tomorrow but it would probly be wiser to just wait and login.

Welcome to the asylum--er, server. My bad!!! *looks innocent*

If you want to commit maximum carnage/dps, I can't say enough good things about the Wizards. Coupled with a Pala-bot, you would be amazed at what you can do. I heartily recommend that you take the time to run around LGuk, and do some of the quests there, particularly the one for the Orbs and the one for Chaotic Nobleman's Necklace. Those are about level 30-35ish quests. Mainly because should you choose to play a Wizard, the only restriction you will find on yourself is the depth of your mana pool, and one of the Orbs gathers mana, and is usable every few minutes. Makes downtime almost nonexistent--almost.

You will find the folks who run around on this server to be incredibly patient and helpful. I shudder to think of the sheer volume of Silly Questions(tm) I flooded the /ooc channel with when I first landed in the Hidden Forest, but I am thankful on a daily basis that everyone was so friendly and understanding then, and they still are, to this day.

Just an FYI, Druids got an awesome boost recently here. Their pets were massively upgraded, and it makes a noticable night-and-day difference in the fun you can have with them here. Again, you would want to run a Pala-bot with that class, as well. Damage shields FTW!!!

Anyways, too much info can be almost as bad as too little info, so I'll stop flooding your input receptors for now. Looking forward to seeing you on the server!!!
I need a scorecard to keep track of all of my alts!!
Kymarrah/ Mierrie/ Cialla/ Dhaani/ Bellabee
and so very many more....
