Beastlords as DPS

Post#1 » Tue Dec 15, 2009 10:26 pm

Beastlords have no niche here ... their spells are nice, but when it comes down to it they're basically DPS so Bresh and I decided to compare and parse and see what would happen.

Hans (Rogue):
===========

Alternate character, armored to ToV in armor with a few ST/PoFire misc items. Mixture of Ssra/ToV augs. Fennin piercer mainhand and 2.0 (fully aug'd WITHOUT slot 30) offhand. 1 donator leaf aug on charm 6.0. Approximately 700 AA's - max DPS AA's purchased.

Bresham (Beastlord):
===============

Main character, armored in full elemental armor except for helm, legs, and chest. Nearly full ST augs. 2.5 (fully aug'd WITH slot 30) mainhand and BL donator offhand. 2 donator leaves on charm 6.0 and other piece. He is using the new pet from PoAir. Approximately 1000 AA's ... anything useful purchased.

** NOTE ** All parses are done by Hans. Melee type "hit" has been removed to make this a pure melee DPS comparison since Bresham can't parse himself due to crashing. Please bear in mind I typically recieve 1/3 of my total DPS from melee type "hit" (procs from Spirit of Chaos, 2.0 click, and Call of Lightning)

Results and Observations
===================

No bots used, no procs considered. For a full DPS comparison, I'm sure that Hans' procs are vastly more than Bresh's spells since I have self-"panther" and 2.0 click with is 800ish. So even if these figures were close they would still put Hans much further ahead of Bresh. Also, it is unwise to say that they will gain more through raid-cast panther since Hans would too.

Overall we see a vast difference of 1200 DPS ... and so therefore I truly believe that Beastlords need some love in that department.

I am not claiming that Beastlords should be DPSing like Rogues or Monks or Zerkers. This is not the purpose of my post. I simply feel that they need an increase to make them a more enjoyable class to play. 1200 DPS is a LOT of damage regardless of how you want to justify it.

On LIVE BST was considered easily 2nd most overpowered class, specially after 400+ AAs or so, rivaled only by necros.
of course BST main dmg comes from his pet. Since on all Emu server melee weapon got insane boost (compared to LIVE), since BSt does not naturally DA, and his pet doesn't wield weapons- they were quickly left behind by more direct classes who DA and DW

Forgot to add (editing it in now though) that Bresh is Fully AA'd with over 900 AA's (nearing 1000) and is only buying useless stats AA's. Hans is mostly AA'd with about 700 and has all his DPS AA's.

I just spent my 992nd aa point now I am buying various stat boosts which are pointless since my stats are capped. :-) I also have most of my leadership skills purchased including all the offensive enhancement skills. I have the POFire chaotic minion aug, and my POAir pet, it looks as though my DPS falls far shorter than it should on the scale. I understand Rogue, Ranger, Zerker, and Monk are expected to be higher on the scale than BLs (although I might debate ranger, but that is another thread), however the amount that Hans exceeds my DPS seems quite a bit over reasonable when yuo consider I am at the peak for my class on this server. Nothing I can add would increase my DPS at this point. I have the best equipment and have purcyhased all of the skills available for my class.

ChaosSlayer has a good point, if my DPS should be from my pet maybe the asnwer is to beef up the pets damage quite a bit. That way we are not changing the main and the pet still has trouble surviving serious rampage mobs. In fact this morning he died to enrage in icewell a few times. Bumping his DPS would not change the overall survivability too much. Just a thought.

Ok.

Hans is a well equipped rog against an insane equipped BST but still does about more than double DPS than the BL. At first glance at least.

Sorry to say but just because Bresh cant parse himself doesnt cut it. We need him parsed. I allow account sharing! So maybe Koeril can parse with the help of Bresh.

A BL pet + Panther proc should go along way in DPS alone. BST can also buff their pets so they proc something else on top. Thats alot DPS not in the calculation.

Let's see the real numbers compare. Rog will of course come out on top, no doubt. But keep in mind BL can also buff, slow, heal and offtank to a certain degree with their pet. I agree though that the Rog shouldnt do 2,5x the DPS of a BL.

Again, ideally i want classes to look like this

Rog,Ber,Monk,Ranger,BL,War,Pal,SK

100,100, 95,90, 85, 85,80,80

Something like this.

Can Jeido, Sarcon, Kilmer, Monkz and Billaski parse against Vlan please?

Can try ... up to Bresh if he wants to share. Even then I haven't the foggiest on how to play a BL :P

Pet procs will never show up in parses by anyone.

Let's see the real numbers compare.

I will get you a real parse, but I'm hardly equipped to be considered the same DPS as a main Rogue. Also, Pie hasn't been around much so his equip doesn't compare either, but at least he has 2.5. Even if I give you a parse, it should still be higher due to armor benefits.

Monkz? MONKZ???

You have got to be kidding :mrgreen:

Well excuse the hell out of me :twisted:

Actually its understandable you want an accurate account of a low level monk, because if I parsed with them it would just be embarrassing 8-)

I thought I had seen that SoF could parse others' spell damage, but I guess I was wrong. Each person has to parse himself to get procs.

Best if each of the parties involved go max self-buffed with clickies and spells and do max damage with Discs for 5 minutes. That should give a good base line to go from and smooth out the spikey damage of discs along with regular damage.
