Still planning to make tradeskills a part of progression?

A lot of things have changed since this was first brought up. Pretty much every other tradeskiller in our guild has either left or is only attending raids. So, if the idea of using tradeskills for progression (meaning armor creation) was dropped, it'd be nice to know as I'll stop farming where I am and go some place a bit more lucrative in the AAxp department.

Just wondering where, if anywhere, this is going.

The server is still pretty young. Currently, as i always said, there are no direct plans for this. In the mid to long term tho, there are definately plans to make tradeskills a vital part of progression.

It's just the same old problem - not enough time ;)

I'm an avid tradeskiller. Unfortunatly I just can't find the time to waste effort on gear that doesn't even outdo crushbone gear. I understand how time consuming it must be and expect it to be on the backburner for a while but i Do miss tradeskills. Just wish the effort had some sort of reward at the end.

There are some acceptable rewards with poisonmaking and tailoring in my opinion. Unfortunately everything else falls into those categories you mentioned. If I ever get around to banging out the last few skill points of tailoring and switch to smithing, I could see myself getting burnt out easy because I've not found a way to grind AA's while also gathering mats for smithing.

I understand that - everyone has his own way of "wasting" his time in EQ :) And if i had more time in RL, this stuff would be already in.

Let's say this - i found a tradeskill editor. I will add a couple of drops in custom zones next week or so and will tinker around with some tradeskills to make some gear.

Let's say - tradeskill stuff from Seb will have 220 hp items, SSra 300 HP Items and Tov 400 HP Items.

Something like this. Don't expect this to be easy tho - i mean SSra raid bosses drop 300 hp items and i don't want the TS to require Boss drops for "casual" gear.

Personally, on Live, i was a big fan and also user of Last Blood augs. Something like this could be done for the Raider Tradeskillers.

Will check into all this.

Btw, all components for skill ups are available in Game in the regular zones, correct? So everyone, with enough time etc, could bring all TS to 300 right? Especially with faster Skillups on THF.

To be honest, even if the rewards were crappy until raid tiers, I would be willing to grind tradeskill mats as long as I could get light blues or higher.

If you could work that our Tyler, it would be awesome!

About the current state of tradeskills. It does appear that the regular mats are all in game and the tradeskilling is much faster, however it still takes sometimes 20+ combines for a single point once you reach the 200 range. Unfortunately, 20 combines can equal more than an hour or two of farming if they weren't part of the PEQ tradeskill plan. Some items, such as my pet farming item at the moment, drop very frequently on Emu even though they were REALLY rare on live. So in theory if you are REALLY unlucky, even with the higher skillups you still could look at 100+ hours of farming even after getting to 200.

Honestly, if they could be tweaked seperatelt to be a bit faster, I would be all for it. Maybe a 25% increase?

Also, some of the special "quick" ways of tradeskilling are missing form Emu, such as the Crow's special brew in the other topic, but those aren't really missed if there is a way to farm tradeskill mats within THF special zones.

Looking forward to the new tradeskill mats we can farm. A good resource for needed tradeskill drops which I use is this page: http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/showthread.php?t=30177

It is the suggested quickest way to grind up tradeskills on live as of 2007, but much of it is current for Emu. So far there has only been 2 mats that I've not been able to find and one mat which dropped so stinking rarely that I gave up.

Big thing to remember about tradeskills too is that you don't HAVE to go through the steps unless you are wanting sellable results (which for us is not a big deal since plat farming is ridiculously easy). For instance, I've been doing Tae Ew Sleeves (275 trivial) since like I had 100 skill and the skill comes just as fast.
