Here is my pet with full Sune buffs and self buffs plus ToV pet toys. He is the 2.0 Pet, I also have the type30 aug from air. I have the PoAir ring which uses True Minion pet focus (pet power 50)

Here is the pet without buffs or weapons.

This is what we had before. Pet with NO buffs or toys.

A base HP increase of 9240. A base AC increase of 200AC.

Zilar, those numbers are interesting, all these parses (from the other classes) were done after the latest balancing changes?

Zal, there isn't much of a big AC boost overall, but with that much AC already... that's a lot of mitigation. The HP increase is a huge jump though, and 4 level increase on top of that.

-edit- I wish my warrior had that much HP, AC, and level 79 hehe... which leads me to wonder who's going to win if I duel with your pet and you just heal it... :D Bet I'm going to lose lol.

The next increase in dps I can see for myself will come from a type 2 aug that will increase how much Mana Flare hits for.

As for the pet itself, yeah I do think the dps could be increased some but not much. Earlier I suggested to use the (100+(power/5)%) formula for this. I feel this, combined with the other increases to HP/AC and Level will help us in the long run. These same factors greatly effect necro pets too since they are nearly in the same boat in a raiding situation as a mage. The pet healing aa's also effect necros. Once those are tuned to be more in line with the hp of our current pets things should be much easier. Rampage and Enrage are the biggest concerns. If you're on your toes the pet can live through it all... If not, well that's what suspend minion is for :D

Cleric Epic Effect hitting pets would go a very long way in helping the raiding dps of pet classes.

Edit: Our pet heal is a pretty long cast lol so you could probably kick my pet's butt :)

Why not adjust/boost the damage capabilities (in the form of nukes/dots) of the player class instead of the pet? Pets have already gotten a huge survivability boost with the latest changes... this way, the pet doesn't get overboard and instead focus the dps "tweaks" on the class itself to bring the classes in question closer to what Tyler wanted them to be in terms of damage output ranking.

By adjusting it this way, you don't get to the scenario where (for example) a mage "just eats popcorn and drinks his favorite soda" while pet grinds out AAs for him.

Having played both a mage and a beastlord on live for years, I tend to agree with Khaliss, here.

The survivability added to the pets is enough to equal more dps when you look at the bigger picture. A dead pet does no damage. It's a fair trade in my opinion.

Also, boosts to player functionality and dps is a more desired option, instead of being pet reliant.

That's a good idea, including a significant boost in pet regen. Mages (including other pet classes) have been king in soloing, now they are even better.

I would even be happy with a pet buff from LDoN or something that increased regen by 200 on the pet. Although that's still not really too much considering how much HP they have now hehe, but it would help..

In a few hours I'll be able to get back on. I'm going to get a BUNCH of screenshots of both the 1.5 and 2.0 pets with a range of Pet Focus effects. I think then we'll be able to get a better overall picture of how it will effect pets through the tiers. I have some theories of what it will look like.. so lets hold off on things till then :D

zeiksz wrote:To help you compare - the original code gave the following (for 10 pet power effect and for 30 too - so there was no scaling, but static increase if ANY scaling effect there):
- HP was 120% of normal (now: 100+power%. yes, can be lower then 20%)
- AC was 120% of normal (now: 100+(power/2)%)
- level increased by 1 (now: +1 level each 10 power - so it is rounded down)
- damage was increased by 10% - so 110% (now: 100+(power/10)%)
- size was set to 115% (now: +(power/10))

Using this as the basis to compare both 1.5 and 2.0 pets with current vs old stats. I summoned the 1.5 and 2.0 pets with the following Pet Power focus effects: PP-0,PP-25,PP-40 and finally PP-50
I have all the pet aa's so this will also be reflected in HP of the pets.

1.5 Pets
Pet Power 0

We can use this data to calculate our old numbers from.

Pet Power 25
Image
OLD HP: 24200 x 120% = 29040 New is +1210
OLD AC: 3750 x 120% = 4500 New is -282

Pet Power 40
Image
OLD HP: 24200 x 120% = 29040 New is +4838
OLD AC: 3750 x 120% = 4500 New is +-0

Pet Power 50
Image
OLD HP: 24200 x 120% = 29040 New is +7260
OLD AC: 3750 x 120% = 4500 New is +187

2.0 Pets
Pet Power 0

We can use this data to calculate our old numbers from.

Pet Power 25

OLD HP: 30800 x 120% = 36960 New is +1540
OLD AC: 4000 x 120% = 4800 New is -300

Pet Power 40

OLD HP: 30800 x 120% = 36960 New is +6158
OLD AC: 4000 x 120% = 4800 New is +-0

Pet Power 50

OLD HP: 30800 x 120% = 36960 New is +9240
OLD AC: 4000 x 120% = 4800 New is +200

After reviewing all the data I think the AC equation should look like 100+(pp/1.5)% This would round out the gap on the lower end. It seems like it's a very high AC number on the top end BUT pets do not mitigate damage nearly as well as an actual tanking class. Yes it helps but it's not going to be able to tank a raid mob for you just because the AC is over 5k.
