Charmed pets and summoning

Is it possible to remove summoning from mobs when charmed?

We found yesterday that if my pet was damaged, or got hit by an AE, it would summon the mob away from the tankl :lol: Sometimes though it would run into a wall, then summon the mob, which then summoned the tank inside the wall.

I don't see that being fix'able except by removing summon altogether from those mobs (probability: near zero :mrgreen: )

Maybe a clever use of /pet hold could do the trick (if /pet hold works for charmed pets on eqemu, not sure about that)

On some boss mobs in Tov its not normally a problem as they are rooted anyway.

Biggest issue we had yesterday was our tank getting summoned inside the wall by the drake, luckily we had a mage there to rescue him :)

Best to not charm a mob which summons, i don't see a fix, easy or not, anytime soon for this.

I can look and make a range of mobs not summonable as "fix".
Item Change -> Reload needed
Spell Change -> Reload AND new Spellfile needed

I've never felt that any mobs should summon except for raid bosses. I just never liked the mechanic. If somebody wants to kite a mob or run away from it, that makes perfect sense.

well back in 2000-2001 - specially during Kunark-Velious days, SOE felt that all the high end mobs - 55+ range should not be soloable under no circumstances (specially given tremendous rise of power of necros and druids those days). Later, with PoP, when level cap went up again, they had to abandoned this idea.

IMHO, the ability of a mob summon should be more lore/special encounter based.

Charm killing in Kael and noticing that the level 70 giants also do the same thing.. Will summon the mob etc.
