Re: Frustration

I think the part of this thread that frustrates me the most is all the times i have been ASKED to come in and help with certain mobs, because people need the drops but truly understand that they simply cannot do it themselves. In these cases I usually try and bring my shammy and cleric for buffs and heals and let the newer layers "do it themselves" but sometimes i tank my way thru to get it done. Also because the Headhunter quest requires you to go to these zones i know that it also makes it much more difficult for newer players. I have been on the other end so I always try and be respectful of other players.

I understand that not everyone plays that way. Not all higher end people are @$$es. Many, many, many of us assist in mobs for the epic weapons quests, specific named mobs for loot, and when newer members are screaming for help from getting mass assaulted by high end mobs (Karnors). I have assisted in hundreds of 1.5 mobs for people and haven't had any reason to go near those mobs other than to assist others.

As leader of <PROGENY> i simply ask that if any of my members have KSed or mob jumped in lower levels, please PM me or send me a tell in game. I will take care of it. I recommend that you try that for all guilded members. The only other thing i recommend, and i have had this happen before, is simply send a tell to a player or even a shout when in zone that you are going after a specific mob and please do not kill it. That way when someone does you can show that you tried to let everyone know. I have received tells like that and have offered to assist rather than ks. I explained what i was after and we were able to meet 1/2 way. Many times i simply left and came back at another time.

100% agree Grubb,

I have myself been KS many times over when i was lower lvl and when i PL toons i try to make sure that i am not treading on someone else that is not. I have left zones like Icewell POV, Crush, Pal when PL if i see only lower lvls in zone and worry about my alts later.
I have helped many many 1.5 2.0 and charm quest runs, and normally /ooc to see if any one needs help or mob that maybe in zone. I have never liked KS or camp stealing but on the same token i have never liked it when someone cries because there mobs were killed or there camp was taken when they ere off somewhere else.
One camp at a time and when someone does a camp check call it out.
I have been yelled at for killing Dvinn and company because a group of lower were trying to get to him, but i shouted out 3 times Camp check and no replies but yet still called KSer.
But bottom line RESPECT each other and HAVE FUN that is what THF is all about isnt.

PS
IMO i like the list idea you all talking about ealier that put a stop to some IMO

I would agree with making a list. There is nothing worse than ( on a lowbie alt ) fighting you way to a target, then making the mistaske of pausing to refresh buffs, to be jumped over and watch you target get 1 shotted.

In all honsety its not a huge issue on this server compared to live or other servers out there, but there are enough folk pulling stuff like that out there to ruin the enjoymnet of others.

I really liked the idea of locking out toons baised on level range of some zones. But then again I do not PL my alts.

The only problem with such a list is

I don't like you
I put you on the list

We both jump on the same mob. I win, you lose. You put me on the list.

It's not easy really
Item Change -> Reload needed
Spell Change -> Reload AND new Spellfile needed

Is it possible to implement the trivial loot code in certain zones, maybe? That would give higher levels no real purpose to kill these lowbie mobs that people are complaining are being ganked from them, aside for possible Headhunter credit.

But regardless, sometimes ganking of a mob warrants no real complaint. I know on some alts of my own, I've been leapfrogged in say, Crushbone, and had Dvinn/Crush/Skullcracker killed before I could get to them, but in the end it worked out, because even though they killed them, the higher level had no real need for the loot on the corpse, which is all I was after, so I was still able to get what I was after. Sure, I could complain that I didn't get the killshot for minor experience, but I refrained, as I still got what I needed.

I know even if the trivial loot code could be implemented, that wouldn't stop higher levels from killing lowbie mobs 100% of the time, but then at least you could weed out people doing it for a reason, and people just killing them just to be a jerk.

It's a hard thing to police, I know. Best we can do is try to help everyone promote a respectful atmosphere on this server. I know whenever I kill a mob that drops loot, regardless of whether or not I leap-frogged someone unknowingly, or if no one was even headed towards that mob, I'll tend to let everyone in the zone know in /shout what is rotting in case anyone else needs.

As far as people of the same level competing for a spawn...i'm a firm believer in survival of the fittest. The playing fields are what I would consider even, and from what I've seen 9 times out of 10, it always turns into a 'he did/she did' situation, and it's difficult to decipher who actually KS'd who.

Correct and i am sure that would happen more then not, but at least this way you can see who saying what bout who.

for me if i see a higher lvl pwrlvling someone, i leave them alone and go to a different area of the zone. But I understand a list might not be the best solution. It can be used for evil...or whiners. Too bad noone's figured out yet how to reach thru someone's monitor and bitchslap them for doing something stupid like Killstealing or zone wipes cuz they're bored

Ok, to make it simple, I would like to suggest to anyone that feels hurt or frustrated to simply report the player ingame or by PM who violates our server rules or simply has no idea what "play fair" means. Maybe not right away, but we always investigate these reports. We pretty much know our "trouble makers" so it's not that hard to take the needed action if they cross the line.
