Betting this is an EQEMU issue and not yours, but:
While playing this song, it has a lot of weird issues. It's an Area of Effect hp/mana regen spell, and for people it is casted on it works fine, but for the bard themselves, it likes to spam "Your spell did not take hold" when you cast it on others. The duration on the bard is super quick, it says 12,6,0.. in like half a second, That may be your spellfile related issue though.

Or it may be my spellfile. Anyways, for people who get it casted on them, it looks fine.

Seems that nearby NPC's are making bards see the message "Your spell did not take hold" when you cast the Chorus heal buffs, such as Chorus of Marr or Ancient: Lcea's Lament.

Probably take off NPc's as targets for their AE, only NPC I can think of that would need them is pets.. so maybe do a check for pets is all.
