Server found no item in slot 30 (->40 Deleting item!

I was trying to augment the "Aged Hoop of Scales" from VP with a Stone of Dragons. The Hoop had a slot 16 item (don't remember what it was).

I tried to do it and server threw an error:
Error: No item in slot 1 of selaer
Error: Server found no item in slot 30 (->4), Deleting Item!

and then a second or so later

Error: Server found no item in slot 30 (->4), Deleting Item!


The Stone of Dragons didn't poof, but the Aged Hoop of Scales with the slot 16 aug poofed

i was about to post a new thread, but i saw this one. i am having the same exact error right now. im still logged in game with the my earring still in the container. at first i tried to combine a stone of sturdiness with an earring of the raging typhoon but got the errors the OP posted. so i took the aug out and when i tried to click on the earring to take it out i got a yellow message saying 'you cannot pick up a lore item you already possess'. i just bought this item about 5 min ago in the bazaar, and i do not own another one. i am afraid to log out right now so i'm pretty much stuck there at the container.

update:

so i ended up looking thru all my bags, and the earring was sitting there. so i closed the containter (which still appeared to have the earring in there) and reopened it and it was now empty. so i tried again to aug the earring with the same stone of sturdiness aug but this time my client crashed. upon logging back in i discovered that the earring was once again in my bag, but my other earring (a gnoll ulna) that i had just bought in the bazaar 10 min earlier has now vanished.
