I don't think this is flagged as a shield as I can't bash with it.

Still can't bash ... "You need to equip a shield in order to BASH"

Think fixed now - not sure. Lowered AC by 15 while we are at it. 80 is a bit too much for Guk.
Item Change -> Reload needed
Spell Change -> Reload AND new Spellfile needed
