Need Help Client Instancing

Played EQemus for quite a while now and I have never had a problem trying to Box multiple chars. For some reason on The Hidden Forest I cannot dual box....

Possible reasons...

1. Can it have something to do with the fact that I use the private THF login server? Should I try the public login?

2. Is there some setting within eqini or something similar that has been changed?

3. Are my accounts somehow "ip blocked" by the staff?

Any help is appreciated and yes I am logging on different accounts and yes my computer can handle it.

3. If you are IP blocked, you couldn't log on any account at all.

What do you mean you cannot dualbox? Can you please describe your issue a bit more detailed? What happens when you try to log in 2nd account. Also, what account names are you using to log in. (send me a PM if you are uncomfortable to post them)

When I begin to load the second instance... it gets the the login screen and i am able to select the hidden forest.

Then after loading for a bit the second client simpy shuts down, never do I get to see the charater select screen.

I am using Titaium

.... I have a slightly out of date THF installer.. maby a few weeks old, could that be it


Also are there any issues with resolution settings while in windowed mode? I noticed that if I try to run EQ in full screen it crashes... could this be a reason why Dual-boxed is being prevented?

If you got an old comp get Win EQ or EQ play nice (a part of Win EQ). Both of these programs enhance the performance - or rather limits the game from eating up your CPU - hence, likely you can box more chars. I had the same problem on my Macbook when trying to just dual box on THF.

The first thing to do is make sure your fully patched with latest thf files.
Are they clean installs. Lots of ppl have issues from other emu custom files.

Can you load up each character individually or does it crash.

What is your computer spec. cpu/ram is important when boxing.

The computer is basic - 1 gb RAM 2.2 Ghz processor running XP.

Thing is I used to 2 box with this comp years ago with no problem.

When I try to open a new instance of EQ it will let me get to the server select screen then when I pick Hidden Forest the client looks like it is trying to load up the character select screen but it never gets there... the loading screen hangs and then second client just dissapears.

I am running a fresh version of titianium.. I will install lastest THF install files and repost.

That sounds like exactly the problem from his second post. Trying to log in two characters from the same account will boot you from game. Don't ask me how I know that. =D


Scibby - Also, check that you did a clean install and didn't just copy files over an install for a different server. =)
