Cleric Placate

I remember from playing on live if you didnt have a monk to split or enc, cleric could at least use their pacify line to help with single pulls. We were only a couple levels behind enchanters in terms of this spell. The default placate spell used on many custom mobs is almost laughable with its resists and mob pulls on failure. Bards and encs get an updated lull spell which is also put on monk's(a class that can split pull anyway) tov legs while clerics are stuck with the default lvl 70 spell to go with custom content.

off topic-
I feel cleric's do not chime in enough, I do not know if there is a severe lack of full time clerics or that they are just content with HP buffing and healing. On live the class was so much more. I look at the threads about this class wanting bigger heals, this class wants bigger nukes, but I rarely see clerics come in and request anything. If there are full time clerics out there that feel the class should be more than a boxed alt please chime in and help the class be improved. Clerics have a mark DS line that could definately be looked at, maybe even a group vs undead proc spell. On live they were more than just heal/buff/rez.

My cleric is my main and yes, the clerics here do not compare with the clerics on live. However, we aren't on live. I have no complaints about how the cleric is on this server.

The job of the cleric is not to tank, nuke or debuff. Her job is to heal the tank. She does that exceptionally well. Any else she does is just fluff.

You stated my point exactly "heals the tank". Can they heal well? Yes of course best healers in the game. Are they perfect? No. While other classes come here to get their utilities worked out the fact that clerics heal well is just good enough. In this train of thought mage pets are good enough no need to up their nukes they are a pet class. Don't tweak druids pets and give them pet buffs they are a solo root and dot class with little raid value except for sometimes fill heals. Over the years that Ive played here every other char has been through overhaul after overhaul to make them feel more complete......Clerics = big heal+big hp buff..devotion here and there..done. Its become the "required" class of the server simply because they are the best heals and because of that their other utilities just get forgotten.

I personally regret having a cleric and wish I had a shm.
I think top end with right group set they perform just as well if not better and have better buffs.

While I agree with you that the Shammy has better buffs and is a great healer, he'll never compete with the Cleric healer simply because of the epic shield clicky. That alone has saved many a tank. =)

Taladome-
As for the rest of the Cleric line - yes it would be awesome if Qill could tank as her namesake did on live, if she could cast a few of those nifty spells that worked so well on live. But to be honest, with boxing, I really don't have time for all of that. And, with the way some of the mobs hit, I'm flat out healing - depending of course on the group set up.

I also disagree that Clerics are the 'required' class of the server. Pallys and SKs get a long just fine without them - just give them a shammy or druid to heal. Warriors need a cleric but that's because they are thickheaded. =D

In other words, I'd rather see Vaion work on new content instead of revamping the Clerics and causing other classes to whine for a revamp as well. I've played on several emu servers and it never fails, boost one class and everyone wants a boost. At some point, we need to just play the game and enjoy it as the creators intended it to be. =)

I said with the right group setup as well.
IE my paladin can cover group heals.
In fact I may just drop the cleric and get a doner shm going

IMHO, Verant designed Cleric wrong from the start.
They made a conscious choice, to make cleric the only and required raid healer, while 2 other priests could barely pull the healing job in groups.

No, no, a shaman was awesome support with buffs and slow, and druid was a really great soloer, but where dps classes could choose from 7-8 choices, and tanks could choose at least from 3, there was always just ONE true raid healer, which was barely useful for anything else. The situation of course got a bit better with later expansions, but primary trend remained.

In EQ2 they were smarter, and they put cleric, druid and shaman on equal footing in terms of healing, and made them different in other areas. This is the kind of balance I lean towards to.

Of course, the point is moot for THF, but just sharing my opinion on clerics ;)

But to be honest, with boxing, I really don't have time for all of that.

Im not sure of the numbers I know its alot maybe 60% of the people or more box on this server. Boxing is not a requirement to play on thf or it would be thbf lol. Its like your saying do not fix anything else on clerics I do not have time to use it while I'm boxing. When I said Clerics chime in it was meant for those few numbers who do not box and only play a cleric on this server. Maybe there are none I dunno lol.

ok back to the point of my thread, which was not intended to be an overhaul on clerics, in group level situations the cleric spell placate needs to be adjusted for custom content or they should be given chaotic pacification like bards, enchanters and...monk tov legs lmao. This class has the lull/pacy line by default and is left out of the loop.
