I personally found this thread confusing because it made me wonder - if I had a donor item already or was buying one today, would I receive the new one still?

The answer is if you have a donor weapon you will get the new one. I don't know what happens to the old one but I asked this yesterday before I did my donation and Lillu confirmed I had nothing to worry about because we'll all get the new one when they're available on Halloween!

fact is : if you already have a donor weapon , you can simply trade it to the new version of it.
