thf installer problem?

hey guys, i was checking out SoD but after running the THF installer, i couldn't open the eq client. the message i got was

The instruction at 0x046dc1f6 referenced memory at 0x0000038. The memory could not be read

the reason i think it was the installer is because i could load up to character selection window without a problem before i ran the installer.

anyone has any experience with that?

Did you patch your client with live at all? Sounds like it from the description...just a edumacated guess.

thanks for the response! i didn't patch it with live.

just checked it again. before i run the installer.exe, i can log in my account. after the installer, still gives me the same message before i can even get to eula screen

I randomly had the same thing happen. I uninstalled my client and rebooted then reinstalled it and its now working fine.
If you had the download from steam (SoD) it might have started to patch to (HoT) before you had unchecked the stay current, patch stuff and piss me off, button.

Thats what got me the first time around.

thanks, i guess i will uninstall everything and then install again hope it works.

clean installed everything and still got the same message after running the installer

So its still happening and you get the error as soon as you double click the .exe?
Did you try to log in before running the installer?
I know its goofy but have you recently moved the computer around at all and loosened any of the components?
Elementary Holmes, I know, however if your still having the issue I would consider (pain in the butt yes I know) uninstalling, running a registry cleaner and turning off the machine. Checking that ram/video card are seated all the way and clean out the dust bunnies and fire it up.
Try to log in to a couple servers to verify its not the install and then try the installer again.

Tbh I hope you got it working between your last post and this post.
Also google had zero responses to a query using that error message so no help there.

thanks for the follow up man.

yup, it gave me the error msg after i double clicke the eqgame.exe. i tried running eqgame.exe without the installer and it worked fine. of course i couldn't see those new weapon models etc.

here is what happened today: i decided to mess around more and see which file in the installer screwed up the whole thing so i downloaded the installer zip file and just copied and pasted file 1 by 1 to the everquest folder. and be hold, nothing gave me that error and seems eqgame.exe runs just fine. i logged in my toon and everything look smooth.

not sure if anyone ever had similar problems but you might try copy and paste the installer zip file over to your everquest folder. just an option.

Good point, myself I always unzip it to a dummy folder then copy over because I'm very picky about stuff like my global load.
